The lighting industry is undergoing a profound transformation—from an “energy efficiency revolution” to a “human-centered light environment revolution.” Why has low blue light become a “must-have,” driving the lighting design sector to fundamentally shift from the traditional approach of “selling luminous flux” (based on lamp parameters) to “delivering verifiable light” that provides human-centric, health-promoting lighting experiences?
In the future, lighting design will no longer simply illuminate spaces; it will create “healthy light environments” that influence people’s vision, physiology, psychology, and behavior.
1. Scientific Foundation: Establishing a scientific understanding of healthy lighting, introducing four value quadrants—health, sustainability, productivity, and emotion—and interpreting non-visual quantitative indicators outlined in new national standards such as GB/T 46119-2025.
2. Residential Design: Proposing the concept of a “24-hour light formula” to tailor dynamic lighting environments aligned with human circadian rhythms for children, seniors, and other demographic groups.
3. Commercial Design: Deconstructing key healthy lighting design principles across four core settings—offices, healthcare facilities, hotels, and wellness centers—while emphasizing adherence to WELL Building Standards.
4. Construction Challenges: Unveiling five common on-site pitfalls—uncontrolled color tolerance, furniture obstruction, improper commissioning—and offering systematic solutions.
5. Project Case Studies: Showcasing replicable design strategies and critical parameters through three benchmark projects, including Suzhou Sukang Senior Care Hospital, high-end residential developments, and 5A-class office buildings.
6. Designer Action Plan: Outlining five concrete actions designers can implement starting next week to ensure training outcomes are effectively put into practice.
