Special Symposium on Classroom Lighting Renovation and Improvement in Compulsory Education Schools in Jiangsu Province Held
On July 13, to further deploy and advance the renovation and upgrading of classroom lighting in compulsory education schools across the province, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education held a special symposium on this work. Li Jinquan, Second-Level Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, presided over the meeting and delivered remarks.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the 2021 provincial classroom lighting renovation and upgrade project for compulsory education schools and the work plan for 2022, with a focus on understanding the progress of classroom lighting renovation in compulsory education schools in Nanjing City and Jianye District . Discussions centered on project approval review, tendering and procurement, construction management and quality control, quality supervision, and acceptance and maintenance, resulting in proposed revisions to the " Operational Procedures for the Classroom Lighting Renovation and Upgrade Project for Compulsory Education Schools in Jiangsu Province" .
The meeting analyzed the trends in myopia among children and adolescents in our province over the past four years, viewed the demonstration video "Caring for Eyes, Standards in Action – Standard Operation Demonstration for Visual Environment in Primary and Secondary School Classrooms," extensively exchanged ideas and discussed potential conflicts and issues that may arise in promoting lighting renovation and improvement projects in compulsory education school classrooms, conducted item-by-item research and argumentation, and clarified countermeasures.
Li Jinquan emphasized the need to raise awareness and treat lighting retrofitting for vision protection as an educational pursuit, a requirement for the physical and mental health of children and adolescents, and a demand from all sectors of society. We must strengthen our sense of mission and vigorously advance this work. We should continue to promote it, promptly study and issue new operating procedures, and implement measures such as quarterly reports, semi-annual inspections, and annual evaluations to transmit pressure at every level and ensure implementation. Close coordination is required; all departments and levels must enhance cooperation, optimize workflows, and form a joint effort. We must unify standards, align with the requirements of National standard (mandatory / recommended), combine with the actual conditions of our province, strengthen top-level design, process guidance, and effective acceptance, especially by clarifying lighting standards for classrooms in newly built, renovated, and expanded schools, effectively unifying operational norms and standard requirements to avoid resource waste and contribute to safeguarding the bright future of children.
