Wang Jianping

Senior Lighting Designer

Senior Member of the Asian Association of Lighting Designers (AALD)


Currently General Manager and Design Director of Shanghai Aite Lighting Design Co., Ltd.; Member of the Designer Working Committee of the China Illumination Society; Deputy Chairman of the Cultural Tourism Art Lighting Special Committee of the Shanghai Illumination Society.


Possesses 16 years of independent experience as an architectural lighting designer. Research focus includes: religious cultural space lighting, nightscape lighting for cultural tourism towns, etc.


Entered Fudan University's Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering in 1988 to study the Electric light source major. After obtaining a master's degree in 1995, joined Philips (Lighting Business: Signify) China's Professional Lighting Division, working there for nearly 8 years and receiving professional training in various lighting application fields. Founded Aite Lighting Design Studio in 2007, later renamed Shanghai Aite Lighting Design Co., Ltd., focusing on providing Lighting design and consulting services for Chinese architectural and urban landscape projects. Since 2012, has been registered as a Level 1 Lighting Designer with the China Illuminating Engineering Society.


Since starting my career, I have led the lighting design for a series of projects including Wuxi Lingshan Fan Palace, Wuxi Five-Print Stupa City, Suzhou Wang Xiaohui Art Center, Weihai Huancui Tower, Wuxia Hollywood Cinema, Wuxi Lingshan Hermitage, Xi'an Datang West Market Silk Road Style Street, Greenland Cloud Peak Shanghai Headquarters, Shangfang Operation Group Headquarters Office, Wuxi Lingshan Nianhua Bay Zen Town, Nanjing Niushoushan Buddha Top Palace, Qufu Nishan Confucius Palace, Hangzhou West Lake Goushan International, Kunshan Bacheng Old Street, Nanjing Jinling Small City, Jiangsu Provincial Garden Expo Park, Yantai Chaoyang Street, Taizhou Jiazhi Old Street, and others. I have won the First Prize in Interior Design from the China Illuminating Engineering Society's Zhongzhao Award three times, the Second Prize in Indoor Lighting Design once, and the Bronze Award from the Asian Lighting Design Association twice. In 2020, I received the Excellence Award from the IES Lighting Award. In 2016, I was rated as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Lighting Designers by the China Illuminating Engineering Society, and in the same year, I was ranked among the TOP5 Lighting Designers by the Golden Finger Award Committee of the China Lighting Network. During my work, I participated in the compilation of a series of green lighting books jointly organized by the China Green Lighting Promotion Office and Fudan University, including "High-Efficiency Lighting Design Guide", "Road Lighting", and "Lighting Design - From Traditional Light Sources to LED".
