Expected to renovate over 25,000 classrooms with an investment of 250 million! Fujian Province's fiscal support for classroom lighting renovation in primary and secondary schools

In response to the high incidence and younger age trend of myopia among adolescents, this year the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have included the classroom lighting renovation project for preventing and controlling myopia in primary and secondary schools as a key project to address people's concerns. They have issued documents such as the "Implementation Plan for the Classroom Lighting Renovation Project for Preventing and Controlling Myopia in Primary and Secondary Schools in Fujian Province" (hereinafter referred to as the "Implementation Plan") and the "Notice on Allocating Subsidy Funds for the Classroom Lighting Renovation Project for Preventing and Controlling Myopia in Primary and Secondary Schools" (hereinafter referred to as the "Subsidy Notice"), providing support and guidance for the classroom lighting renovation project.

Regarding funding, the "Implementation Plan" states that classrooms for myopia prevention and control included in the 2022 provincial party committee and provincial government project to address practical issues for the people, with renovation indicators, are calculated at 12,000 yuan per classroom, requiring approximately 250 million yuan in total. The plan proposes that schools under provincial jurisdiction shall be funded by the provincial level, while schools in various cities shall receive a 30% subsidy from the provincial finance department, meaning a subsidy of 3,600 yuan per classroom from the provincial level, with a total allocation of 76.2 million yuan from provincial finances. The remaining funds shall be coordinated and arranged by municipal and county (district) governments.

According to the subsidy fund notice, Fujian Province will renovate 20,929 classrooms in primary and secondary schools. The provincial finance department will provide a subsidy of 3,600 yuan per classroom to improve students' visual environment and promote their healthy growth. Currently , the provincial finance department plans to invest 76.2 million yuan to support project implementation, and all funds have been fully allocated .

根据改造工程资金安排表，福州市获补助资金1281.96万元，将改造近视防控教室3561间，莆田市2350间，三明市2603间，泉州市3095间，漳州市2631间，南平市2037间，龙岩市2000间，宁德市2550间。要求改造后教室照明卫生标准达标率100%，项目学校对中小学近视防控教室照明改造工程实施情况满意率达到零投诉。

Funds are mainly used for luminaire retrofitting, increasing ceiling illuminance in classrooms, adding blackboard lighting fixtures, etc., to further improve classroom lighting uniformity and provide students with a learning environment conducive to visual health. The renovation project is expected to be fully completed by the end of November.
