Henan releases "Technical Specification for Lighting in Primary and Secondary School Classrooms and Kindergartens"
河南省地方标准《中小学及幼儿园教室照明技术规范》(DB41/T2246-2022)将于2022年7月5日实施。

This standard was proposed and is under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Department of Education, approved by the Henan Provincial Market Supervision Administration, and jointly drafted by the Provincial Metrology Science Research Institute, Provincial Educational Technology Equipment Management Center, National Electric Light Source Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Henan), and Provincial Teaching Instrument and Equipment Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center.
Strengthening myopia prevention and control for children and adolescents, and promoting their health, is a bright project of concern to the central government, the public, and society. In recent years, the Provincial Department of Education has worked with seven departments, including the Provincial Health Commission and the Provincial Market Regulation Administration, to establish and improve a joint meeting system. In accordance with the national "Comprehensive Implementation Plan for Myopia Prevention and Control for Children and Adolescents" and the "Bright Action Work Plan for Myopia Prevention and Control for Children and Adolescents (2021–2025)", we are fully advancing myopia prevention and control work for children and adolescents in all aspects.
The lighting environment in classrooms of primary and secondary schools is closely related to the visual health of children and adolescents. The basis for compiling the local standard "Technical Specification for Lighting Environment in Classrooms of Primary and Secondary Schools and Kindergartens" is the national standards GB7793 "Hygienic Standard for Daylighting and Lighting in Classrooms of Primary and Secondary Schools", GB/T36876 "Hygienic Requirements for Design and Installation of Ordinary Classroom Lighting in Primary and Secondary Schools", and GB40070 "Hygienic Requirements for Myopia Prevention and Control of Learning Materials for Children and Adolescents".
On the basis of ensuring compliance with national standards, the scope of the standard covers classroom lighting environments illuminated by double-ended fluorescent luminaires, LED luminaires, and other types of luminaires; it applies to classrooms in newly built, renovated, or expanded primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, including ordinary classrooms and various specialized classrooms.
The standard specifies general requirements for indoor lighting in classrooms of primary and secondary schools and kindergartens , including general lighting quality, illuminance on the task surface and its immediate surroundings, color temperature, lighting power density (LPD) at 100 lux, flicker percent / modulation depth, photobiological safety, lighting control devices, lumen depreciation of the lighting light environment, and other lighting quality indicators. It also covers on-site inspection items and methods and requirements for school classroom lighting environments, helping schools accept new or renovated projects, ensuring the classroom light environment continues to meet standards, and providing students with a learning environment conducive to visual health.
