Hubei's first smart energy zero-carbon island lands in Xiangyang: The entire island will deploy [[0]] smart streetlights!

Recently, State Grid Hubei Electric Power and the Management Committee of Yuliangzhou Economic Development Zone in Xiangyang, Hubei jointly signed the "Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Focusing on Dual Carbon Goals and Building a Smart Energy Zero-Carbon Island" for Yuliangzhou. The construction of Hubei's first smart energy zero-carbon island project has officially kicked off.

Yuliangzhou is located at the center of the Han River section in the main urban area of Xiangyang City, facing the four urban districts of Xiangyang across the river. It boasts a unique location and excellent water quality, featuring an ecological landscape described as 'one island with two islets, two mountains reflecting on the lake, surrounded by mountains and water, and four cities overlooking the island.' Known as the 'Pearl of Jianghan,' it is a famous local tourist resort.

In accordance with the agreement, will build distributed photovoltaic on the island through modes such as forestry-light complementary and water-light complementary systems. Utilizing sewage treatment plants and geothermal resources, it will develop sewage-source heat pumps and ground-source heat pump projects to achieve clean development of energy supply on the island. Charging and battery swapping infrastructure will be constructed in the island's , while catering and commercial electrification retrofitting will be carried out to promote clean end-use energy consumption within the island.

Through intelligent energy retrofitting of public buildings and large structures, smart terminals such as smart streetlights are deployed across the entire island to enhance the intelligence level of energy management on Zhoudao. Upon completion of the project, Zhuliang Island will achieve 100% adoption of renewable energy , with 24-hour self-sufficient heating for the entire island, realizing zero emissions.

"Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." The Hanjiang Ecological Economic Belt holds a crucial strategic position and exerts significant driving force within Hubei Province's economic and social development landscape. Yuliangzhou Island is the largest island in the Hanjiang River basin reservoir area approved for development and utilization, known as the "urban green heart" with no villages, no engineering projects, and no pollution.

Through low-carbon, green, intelligent, and environmental protection technical pathways, this collaboration will create Hubei's first smart energy zero-carbon island, providing a demonstrative model for low-carbon and green development in the Hanjiang Ecological Economic Belt that can be reflected upon, learned from, replicated, and exported. This is an important measure to implement the national policies on major Yangtze River protection, and a pragmatic action to deeply implement the strategic decisions on 'carbon peaking and carbon neutrality'.
