"Human-machine coexistence" beyond the Winter Olympics venues: Guangmingyuan 222nm excimer lamp provides more comprehensive contactless disinfection
As the fierce competitions unfold, the Winter Olympics are in full swing. Beyond the venues, medical prevention and control is the most critical component of event support and a concrete manifestation of soft power in medical diplomacy.
As the primary referral hospital for the Zhangjiakou competition zone of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the Chongli Campus of Peking University Third Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "Chongli Campus") was responsible for providing medical support to nearly 70,000 athletes, team officials, and spectators from various countries during the Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics. When we focus on the Infectious Diseases Building of the Chongli Campus, which mainly handles fever patients, "hospital logistics robots" and "light vaccine doors" have replaced the busy figures of medical staff and cumbersome disinfection and protection procedures, becoming the "main force" for transporting supplies in the Infectious Diseases Building and providing a solid backing for the event support of the Winter Olympics.

No manual intervention required
"Light Vaccine Gate" enables comprehensive disinfection
It is reported that since the implementation of a robot-based epidemic prevention logistics Solution, medical staff at the Chongli Campus no longer need to enter the infectious disease building when transporting clean supplies to isolation wards. Upon receiving instructions from medical personnel, the robots transport supplies from the first floor to the third floor. Along the way, they automatically pass through the "Light Vaccine Gate" equipped with Guangmingyuan 222nm excimer lamps. The 222nm wavelength light provides comprehensive disinfection, destroying coronaviruses on the robot's surface and eliminating their ability to replicate, thereby achieving sterilization.

The 222 nm excimer lamp disinfection solution adopted by the "Light Vaccine Gate" enables convenient all-around disinfection, effectively addressing challenges such as cumbersome disinfection processes for hospital logistics robots and non-standard, incomplete wipe disinfection, allowing robot logistics transport to truly operate without manual intervention. Meanwhile, the human-safe 222 nm wavelength light produces no harmful substances or chemical residues during disinfection, enabling human-machine coexistence and precise disinfection.
A representative of Guangmingyuan stated that the "Light Vaccine Door" is only a partial manifestation of the 222nm excimer lamp disinfection solution. At the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, Guangmingyuan engaged in deep cooperation with university research institutions, organized R&D teams to tackle key scientific challenges, and developed a series of 222nm excimer lamp light sources suitable for human-machine coexistence, as well as SafeGlo™ UV sterilization products with stable and reliable quality. These products have been mass-produced and marketed both domestically and internationally, contributing to the fight against the epidemic.

CSIR laboratory test results with globally recognized influence show that the SafeGlo™ 222 nm excimer lamp produced by Guangmingyuan Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. has been proven to inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based on the outstanding application results of 222nm light source products in epidemic prevention operations, Guangmingyuan has also received industry recognition. In 2021, the technological innovation and manufacturing design of Guangmingyuan's 222nm excimer lamp were recognized by the China Lighting Industry Association. In October 2021, it won the "Second Prize for Technological Innovation" at the 16th Zhongzhao Lighting Awards organized by the China Illuminating Engineering Society.

Guangmingyuan Embarks on the Path of Human-Machine Coexistence
Since the widespread global outbreak of the pandemic, achieving precise disinfection methods that enable "human-machine coexistence" has remained a key focus for public places with high crowd density and priority epidemic prevention sites.
The 222 nm wavelength light used in Guangmingyuan's 222 nm excimer lamp disinfection solution cannot penetrate human skin and eyes. It only disinfects the irradiated air and object surfaces. The disinfection process is harmless to humans, imperceptible to people, and produces no harmful substances or chemical residues. Its innovative human-machine friendly coexistence feature greatly expands the applications of UV disinfection and sterilization.
On one hand, in key epidemic prevention locations such as logistics parks, cold chain points, airports, and quarantine hotels, Guangmingyuan can protect the hygiene and safety of quarantine hotels and hospitals through the SafeGlo™ 222 nm far-UVC sterilization door, comprehensively enhancing epidemic prevention and control, reducing the risk of cross-infection, and safeguarding the health and safety of quarantined individuals, hotel staff, doctors, and patients.

During the Beijing Winter Olympics, multiple practical application cases demonstrated the effectiveness of Guangmingyuan's 222nm light source products, which were widely deployed in key epidemic prevention scenarios such as venue security checks and off-site support. Currently, Guangmingyuan continues to research and develop more 222nm light source products to provide effective support for joint epidemic prevention efforts.
