Recent notifications and recalls of Chinese lighting products exported to Europe

From November 12 to December 10, 2021, the EU Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued recalls for 11 domestic lighting-related products.

Among them, the most frequently reported product is LED string lights (LED Christmas lights), with a total of 7 reports. Its main defects include: external and internal wire cross-sections being too thin, which may cause overheating and pose a risk of burns or fire; if the base insulation is damaged, users may come into contact with live parts, leading to a risk of electric shock, etc.

The country with the most notifications is Hungary, with a total of 4 notifications; all notified products are light strings. Based on this recall situation, brand product notifications are fewer (2 notifications), while other notified products are all unbranded. From the perspective of notification regions, Eastern Europe has more notifications (6) than Northern Europe (3) and Western Europe (2).

The China Lighting Association urges all lighting export enterprises to attach importance to safeguarding the image of Made in China, actively improve the quality of exported products, especially the quality of light string products, ensure the safety of overseas consumers' use, and promote high-quality development of industry exports.
