UL and Dongge Lighting Technology Establish Deep Cooperation

On November 6, 2021, UL and Shanghai Dunge Light Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Dunge Light Technology") held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony, which is also the first global signing ceremony for in-depth cooperation on UL-led digital platform-based intelligent solutions.

Strengthen the innovation value of products and promote orderly competition

Founded in 2007, Dongge Light Technology is a professional LED lighting product R&D company, primarily providing ODM services to customers in the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America. To date, Dongge Light Technology has become a supplier of LED applications in the North American market, with advanced factories and specialized installation capabilities in Zhejiang, China. While Dongge Light Technology holds significant advantages in traditional lighting products, it urgently needs to find new breakthroughs against the backdrop of intelligence, standardization, and digitalization. The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement will significantly enhance both parties' brands and visibility, and play a certain role in guiding the market.

First, standardize industry market standards and increase the added value of lighting products. DunGe is a professional supplier for export to North America, with high recognition in the North American retail and professional customer markets, especially in product innovation. Over its development, DunGe has achieved a leap in LED lighting from semiconductor lighting to consumer electronics lighting. The signed cooperation with UL has further strengthened the value of product innovation, truly putting people first and highlighting the significance of lighting in human life.

Second, UL's continuous exploration and investment in the technical field, combined with market-driven standardized product management, also helps innovative companies like Dongge to grow steadily and orderly in the market.

Make data tangible, providing lighting manufacturers with a reliable basis

From traditional lighting to LED lighting, and further to healthy lighting and smart lighting that more closely meet consumer needs in the future—this is a challenge that Dongge must face, and one that UL must also address. As many know, UL primarily helps local industries enter the North American market, covering sectors such as lighting, home appliances, and HVAC. Therefore, from UL's perspective or from the standpoint of standard development, it must be formed by combining existing product technologies with real-world needs. Regarding lighting design, past lighting design standards were based on the requirements of different scenarios, with requirements such as illuminance and color temperature, starting from the perspective of luminance, which is what can be seen.

When we discuss human-centric lighting, taking circadian rhythm as an example, it refers to what kind of lighting makes people more comfortable at different stages of the day, or allows for high concentration or good rest within certain time periods, which requires adjustments to the lighting.

The purpose of adjustment is not merely illuminance or surface illuminance, but to regulate certain characteristics of the light that actually enters the human eye. Through research, we quantify the data so that lighting manufacturers have a basis for implementation in specific projects. Instead of imagining what kind of lighting complies with circadian lighting, they can rely on control logic. Our collaboration aims to expedite the adoption of such design standards, ensuring that scenes align with human-centric data through the control mechanisms behind these new products.

In the future, UL will continue to deepen its presence in the Chinese market and increase its investment in China, including laboratories, personnel, and joint development of standards with local partners. UL and Dunge will also engage in comprehensive cooperation in the fields of horticultural lighting, educational lighting, and smart lighting.
