Invitation | Dual Carbon Goals and Green Smart City Development Forum

Source: 中国之光网 Views: 2885

Theme: Dual Carbon Goals, Green Smart Cities

In September 2020, President Xi Jinping pointed out in his important speech at the general debate of the 75th United Nations General Assembly that China will increase its nationally determined contributions, adopt more vigorous policies and measures, strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030, and work hard to achieve "carbon neutrality" before 2060. Actively responding to climate change and fulfilling the national commitments to peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality (hereinafter referred to as "dual carbon") is a daunting challenge facing China today. 2021 is China's "Year One of Carbon Neutrality." At this year's Two Sessions, "peak carbon" and "carbon neutrality" were included in the Government Work Report for the first time and listed as one of the key tasks for 2021.

In recent years, the Chinese government and academia have carried out a series of sustainable development theoretical and practical explorations focused on addressing resource and environmental issues, achieving remarkable results. New concepts such as green development, low-carbon development, circular economy, eco-cities, and smart cities continue to emerge.

The development of green smart cities is one of the important directions for transforming China's development model and a significant embodiment of the "Chinese path." How to innovate systems and mechanisms, pool collective strength, unleash potential, and establish a development community with shared participation and interests among stakeholders is the core issue in the development of green smart cities. Guided by the overall goal of green smart city development and led by innovation, we integrate development pathways such as "ecological," "low-carbon," "circular," and "smart" to comprehensively transform value judgments, production methods, lifestyles, construction approaches, management models, and social culture in urban development. This aims to establish a new win-win model for urban development, comprehensively address resource and environmental issues, and ultimately achieve harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.

During the 2021 World Internet of Things Expo, the "Forum on Dual Carbon Goals and Green Smart City Development" will be held, focusing on dual carbon goals and the development of green smart cities. This forum will explore new opportunities for industry cooperation from perspectives such as dual carbon goals, energy saving and environmental protection, green energy, smart street lights, and their IoT applications.
