The "2021 China Lighting Industry Development Conference and the 11th China LED Lighting Forum", hosted by the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), grandly convened on September 15, 2021 in Zhongshan Xiaolan.

Xue Zhiguo, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Xiaolan Town, Zhongshan City, delivered the opening speech. Mayor Xue introduced the industrial and economic development of Xiaolan Town. The current Xiaolan Town was formed by the merger of the former Xiaolan Town and Dongsheng Town. It is a central town of Guangdong Province and an industrial powerhouse and commercial hub of Zhongshan City. It has 8 national-level industrial bases, including the 'China Hardware Products Industry Base' and the 'China Semiconductor Intelligent Lighting Innovation Base'. The government attaches great importance to the development of the LED industry and is accelerating the creation of smart manufacturing demonstration production lines, building a number of 'Digital Manufacturing' and 'Globalization 4.0' demonstration factories, and promoting the continuous improvement of intelligence and digitalization in advantageous industries such as smart lighting and smart home.

In his speech, Lei Yuelong, Vice Mayor of Zhongshan Municipal People's Government, mentioned that Zhongshan is an important manufacturing city in the Pearl River Delta. It is a national characteristic industrial cluster innovation base and a pilot city for industrial innovation and upgrading in Guangdong Province. It features characteristic industrial clusters such as Guzhen, the Lighting Capital of China, Xiaolan, the 'China Semiconductor Intelligent Lighting Innovation Base', and Henglan, the 'China Lighting and Luminaire Manufacturing Base'. Zhongshan attaches great importance to the development of the health industry and will support the transformation and upgrading of lighting and luminaire enterprises, expanding from traditional lighting to smart lighting and non-visual lighting fields.

This year is the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the lighting and electrical appliance industry is also at a turning point from high-speed development to high-quality development. In order to better serve the development of the lighting industry, the China LED Lighting Forum has been upgraded this year into the 'China Lighting Industry Development Conference', on the basis of ten consecutive years of successful hosting, with the theme of 'Promoting High-Quality Development of the Lighting Industry', continuing to provide a broader and deeper exchange and cooperation platform for the lighting industry. During the one-day academic and technical exchange event, 17 experts, scholars and industry representatives delivered special reports on hot topics of industry development to help enterprises understand the latest market developments.

Through comparative analysis of import/export and production data for various products in the lighting industry over many years, Chairman Chen summarized and reviewed the development of the lighting industry, and pointed out recent hot issues in the industry as well as future development directions.

Professor Ma Jun, Director of the Institute of Child and Adolescent Health at Peking University, delivered a report titled "Requirements for Myopia Prevention and Control in Children and Adolescents and Visual Health Environment". Professor Ma analyzed the findings of myopia surveys among Chinese children and adolescents as well as the eye health status of young people during the pandemic. He explained the key measures for myopia prevention and control from the perspectives of technology, national policies, and relevant national standards, and pointed out the requirements for a healthy classroom environment through case studies.

In his morning speech, the mayor of Zhongshan mentioned that Zhongshan's lighting industry is actively conducting research and industrial applications in non-visual fields. The last speech of today's conference was delivered by Professor Su Chengyue from Guangdong University of Technology, introducing Zhongshan's research achievements in this field. Professor Su's speech, titled 'Research and Industrial Implementation of Healthy Lighting Technology Based on Physiological and Psychological Indicators', introduced the evaluation methods of healthy lighting and the applications of related products.
