Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Administration: 70 models of luminaires and lighting devices failed label and marking compliance

Recently, the website of the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation published a notice regarding the results of the 2020 special supervision and spot checks on product label and marking quality in Guangdong.

According to the notice, in accordance with the Product Quality Law of the People's Republic of China, the Interim Measures for the Administration of Supervision and Spot Checks on Product Quality, the Guangdong Province Product Quality Supervision Regulations, and other relevant provisions, the Guangdong Provincial Administration for Market Regulation carried out a quality supervision spot check on the labeling and marking of fertilizer products in Guangdong Province in 2020. The sampling and inspection technical services were undertaken by the Guangdong Institute of Product Quality Supervision and Inspection and the Guangzhou Institute of Standardization. It also carried out a quality supervision spot check on the labeling and marking of 17 types of products, including luminaires and lighting devices, ventilation electrical appliances, kitchen electrical appliances, cleaning and hygiene electrical appliances, special accessories for electrical equipment, gas appliances and their parts, batteries and their components, mobile communication equipment, general power supply products, and children's toys. The sampling and inspection technical services were undertaken by the Guangzhou Institute of Standardization.

Among them, the results of the supervisory spot checks on product labels and markings for luminaires and lighting devices are as follows:

A total of 385 models of luminaires and lighting devices produced by 153 enterprises were subject to supervisory spot checks, covering 10 cities in Guangdong Province, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, and Jieyang, as well as 9 provinces (municipalities) including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, and Chongqing.

This spot check focused on inspecting 12 items, including "name and address of the manufacturer or distributor," "product name," "applicable standards," "basic requirements," "date marking," "warning statements," "standard Chinese characters," "technical requirements," "units of measurement," "installation, maintenance, and usage instructions," "place of origin," and "product barcode." The inspection revealed that 70 products manufactured by 42 companies had non-compliant labels and markings. The main non-compliant items were: "basic requirements," "name and address of the manufacturer or distributor," and "applicable standards."
