ams OSRAM launches new quantum dot LEDs; Sunshine Lighting forecasts H1 profit of RMB 278–306 million
Yangguang Lighting expects H1 profit of RMB 278–306 million
On July 23, Sunshine Lighting released its 2021 semi-annual performance forecast.
The announcement shows that during the performance forecast period, the company expects the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company for the first half of 2021 to be approximately RMB 278 million to RMB 306 million, an increase of RMB 0 to RMB 27.8 million compared to the same period last year (statutory disclosure data), representing a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 0% to 10%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company after deducting non-recurring gains and losses is RMB 131 million to RMB 157 million, a decrease of approximately RMB 105 million to RMB 131 million compared to the same period last year (statutory disclosure data), representing a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 40% to 50%.
Sunshine Lighting stated that the main reasons for the performance changes in this period are:
1. Affected by the continuous rise in global commodity prices, ocean freight costs, and related raw material prices, production costs have increased. The company mitigates the impact of raw material fluctuations through centralized procurement, ordering required raw materials according to production schedules, improving the supply chain delivery system for sales, production, and procurement processes, locking in raw material prices, maintaining inventory reserves, and implementing raw material hedging measures.
2. Impact of non-operating gains and losses: During the reporting period, the impact of non-recurring gains and losses on net profit was mainly due to the expropriation of the company's industrial real estate located in the Lidong area of Lihai Street, Shaoxing. The pre-tax profit is expected to be affected by approximately RMB 125 million.
3. The company's overseas orders are mainly settled in US dollars or euros. Since the first half of 2021, exchange rate fluctuations have had a certain impact on the company's financial position and operating performance. To effectively mitigate foreign exchange market risks and prevent adverse effects of exchange rate fluctuations on the company's financial position and operating performance, the company will increase RMB settlements and conduct part of its forward foreign exchange settlement and sale business to hedge against the impact of exchange rate fluctuations.
4. The company must further transition from an OEM model to a sales model based on its own brand and independent markets; the growing pains of this transformation are inevitable. Once the business transformation is complete, the company's overall profitability will improve.
ams OSRAM launches new quantum dot LED
Redefining High-End Lighting
·Osconiq E 2835 CRI 90 (QD) expands ams OSRAM's lighting solution portfolio, delivering exceptional quality performance in new mid-power LEDs;
·Utilizing proprietary quantum dot technology with outstanding efficiency, ensuring efficiency exceeds 200 lm/W even at a high Color rendering index (CRI);
·The world's first 2835 packaged LED using mature quantum dot technology.
ams OSRAM Group recently announced the launch of a new quantum dot LED --- Osconiq E 2835 CRI 90 (QD).
Over the years, LED technology has been continuously evolving, with growing demand for high-quality, high energy efficiency general lighting solutions. Manufacturers have been committed to developing LEDs that meet these requirements, and OSRAM is no exception. The Osconiq E 2835 CRI 90 (QD) pushes efficiency values to new heights, maintaining excellent efficiency even with a very high Color rendering index (CRI) and warm white light. The special 2835 Packaging also brings further system advantages to luminaire manufacturers.

Quantum dots (QD) are special semiconductor particles that emit light of different wavelengths when illuminated by blue light, depending on their size. Due to their unique properties, they can be precisely tuned to accurately achieve the desired color temperature and deliver excellent efficiency in the warm white spectrum.
Peter Naegelein, Director of Lighting Product Management at ams OSRAM, stated: "We have specifically developed quantum dot phosphor and are the only manufacturer on the market capable of providing this technology for general lighting applications. The Osconiq E 2835 is also the only LED in its class to adopt the mature 2835 packaging, delivering uniform illumination and astonishing quality."
Osconiq E 2835 CRI 90 (QD) offers a color temperature range from 2200K to 6500K with excellent efficiency exceeding 200 lm/W. This product has a power of 0.5W and dimensions of 2.8mm x 3.5mm, with its compact size facilitating compact and efficient lighting design.
Quantum dots have excellent absorption properties, thereby reducing the number of nanoparticles required. Unlike other phosphors in general lighting, quantum dot solutions are still in their early stages of development, but future generations hold great promise. The OSRAM quantum dot solution features a unique characteristic: it uses protective packaging, making it more robust and less susceptible to moisture and other external factors. Thanks to this special packaging technology, it is possible to use such tiny particles in the demanding "chip-scale" operations within LEDs.
This LED also meets the strict energy efficiency requirements for light sources under the Single Lighting Regulation (SLR), which will become mandatory in Europe in September 2021. Among other requirements, the new regulation includes a requirement for saturated red value > 50, known as the R9 value. R1 to R8 are used to determine CRI, with each R value representing a specific color.

Thanks to quantum dot technology, the Osconiq E 2835 CRI 90 (QD) offers excellent efficiency, ensuring outstanding color rendering performance in a wide range of applications, from retail lighting to office lighting.

Osconiq E2835 is also available in two other versions: a CRI 80 component for office and retail lighting solutions, and Osconiq E2835 Cyan. Osconiq E2835 Cyan produces a spectrum peak in the blue wavelength range, thereby suppressing melatonin production in the human body, making it an ideal choice for Human centric lighting (HCL) solutions.
