Yang Qichang from the Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was elected as an Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences

On November 14, 2020, the 23rd Conference of the China Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences was held in Beijing. Fifty Chinese scholars were elected as formal candidates for membership in the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, and by the end of May 2021, they were officially approved as academicians of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences. The number of Chinese scientists elected reached a new high.

To date, there are 256 Chinese scientists among the academicians of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences. Among them, 123 were elected between 1996 and 2009; at the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences China Academician Conference held from 2010 to 2020, 133 academicians from China were elected.

The International Eurasian Academy of Sciences was established in 1994 and comprises over 600 academicians, corresponding members, and honorary members from 46 countries. Headquartered in Moscow, it has established regional centers in Europe (France), Eurasia (Russia), and the Asia-Pacific region (China), as well as national science centers in 15 countries. The China Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences is the second-largest among the 15 national science centers; it was proposed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1996 and approved for establishment by the State Science and Technology Commission.

Among them, Yang Qichang, Executive Deputy Director and Researcher at the Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was elected as an Academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.

Yang Qichang is the Director of the "Key Laboratory of Energy Saving and Waste Treatment in Facility Agriculture" under the Ministry of Agriculture, a member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Chief Scientist of the "Innovation Team for Environmental Engineering of Facility Plants." He has presided over more than 40 projects, including the National 863 Program and the Natural Science Foundation. He has published 187 papers (32 indexed by SCI/EI), authored 7 books such as "Introduction to Plant Factories" and "Plant Factory Systems and Practice," won two Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (ranked first), one China Patent Gold Award (ranked first), 10 provincial and ministerial awards, and holds more than 100 authorized patents. He has been honored as a national-level candidate of the "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project," an outstanding young and middle-aged expert with significant contributions from the Ministry of Agriculture, an expert receiving special government allowances from the State Council, a recipient of the China Outstanding Youth Scientific and Technological Innovation Award, a National Outstanding Agricultural Sci-Tech Worker, and a National Outstanding Talent in Agricultural Research. He currently serves as the Chairman of the ISHS Commission on Engineering in Protected Cultivation, Chairman of Greensys 2017 (International Symposium on High Technology in Greenhouse Systems), and Chief Scientist of the National "12th Five-Year" 863 Project "Research on Intelligent Plant Factory Production Technology."
