Fuzhou is known as the City of Fortune, with blessings from heaven, earth, mountains, and waters. Combined with the Jinniu Mountain Fudao, it represents the perfection of five blessings. Since ancient times, Fuzhou has had a rich cultural atmosphere where nature, daily life, and humanistic ideals are seamlessly integrated. The construction of Fudao, from its design phase, embodies the fusion of nature, culture, and ecology; an ecological approach that is also modern. The openwork bridge deck allows light to pass through, ensuring that plants beneath can grow in daylight without interference—a testament to the landscape architects' utmost efforts after introducing artificial structures into nature. Winding through the mountains, Fudao offers a cool retreat with expansive views during the day, close to yet secluded from the city.

夜晚布光的目的，就是想把白天的幸福感延伸至夜晚，夜跑夜游夜漫步。同时在夜色中登高欣赏城市的夜景，赏景中修身养性。因此福道布光时我们有三方面的预设条件：首先是灯光对自然植物生物的最小限度的影响；其次是夜行步道的安心感；还有就是作为城市的山上观景道的亮度控制，便于在幽静中感受城市建设的繁荣辉煌。

Although the Fu Dao winds through the mountains, most of the path is flat; steps only appear when there are elevation changes. The flat surface is illuminated from below, with light passing through perforated panels to reach the ground, serving as a walking guide. The flat path does not require high illuminance or strict uniformity, but it is undesirable to see the light source directly. The solution cleverly hides the luminaires within the bottom structure of the perforated paving panels. Light seeps through the holes, creating an illumination effect resembling a blooming flower emerging behind a halo on the ground.

步道也有多处爬山而上的阶梯，这些路段夜晚登台阶安全性要求就突出了。首先要求看清扶手边界，同时要照亮台阶面，当然均匀度要好，有一定的照度。理想的做法是由扶手高度下照台阶，出光有距离，光散得开。方案中自扶手护栏内藏了灯，在满足照亮台阶的目的基础上，避免了光源的外露。通过网孔板的光有编织的浅影，增加了山道台阶的夜色趣味。

Comfortable walking in dim light

There are flat paths, steps, and rest islands. Sculptural pavilions and seating form a gathering spot for brief pauses along the way. Lighting here has additional requirements: it must be identifiable as a landscape feature from a distance. These small structures dotting the mountainside become inviting when lit, bringing the night mountain and people closer together. When gathering between pavilions, a sense of brightness is needed, like a safety island.

Fudao lighting has three heights: light underfoot, light at hand level, and light overhead. Low-level lighting is primary, while top lighting serves as an accent. The height of the lighting corresponds to its purpose; using light appropriately extends Fudao from day into night.
