Sanan Optoelectronics' Mini/Micro LED chip project is expected to start production next March

On November 8, at the construction site of Sanan Optoelectronics' Mini/Micro LED chip industrialization project in the Gedian Development Zone, the front-end process for Chip Line 1, the back-end process for Chip Line 1, and the back-end process for Chip Line 2 are under intensive construction. Upon completion, this site will become the "main battlefield" for chip production. According to relevant officials, the project is expected to commence operations and yield results by March next year.

At the construction site, large machinery shuttles back and forth, and workers are stepping up their efforts, creating a bustling scene. "We operate based on detailed plans, reverse-schedule the timeline, and accelerate project construction," said the project manager. To ensure the project stays on schedule, workers rotate in three shifts, and machinery operates day and night, with nearly 600 workers and over 100 pieces of equipment involved in the construction.

Currently, the shift dormitories, power station, catering canteen, Chip Plant 1 front-end, Chip Plant 1 back-end, Chip Plant 2 back-end, and warehouse have all been topped out, with a total area of approximately 150,000 square meters.

As the project progresses, large-scale equipment will also be brought into the factory for commissioning, preparing for smooth production start-up in March next year.

Last July, Sanan Optoelectronics officially commenced construction on its Mini/Micro LED chip industrialization project, marking China's first large-scale Micro LED chip project. Due to the impact of the pandemic, construction progress was temporarily slowed. After resuming work and production, relevant departments in Ezhou City took proactive measures by strengthening communication, coordination, resource assurance, and liaison services, providing solid support for project construction. These departments worked closely with the construction team to form a joint effort, actively coordinating to resolve difficulties and problems encountered during project implementation.

After the project is completed and reaches full production capacity, it is estimated that the annual output of the GaN chip series will be 1.61 million wafers, the GaAs chip series will be 750,000 wafers, and packaged products for 4K Display will be 84,000 units. The estimated annual turnover is RMB 7.175 billion, with annual tax payments of RMB 783 million. It will establish a Mini/Micro LED chip production base with independent intellectual property rights, mastery of core technologies, industry influence, and significant international impact.
