On November 3, a large number of street lights capable of wirelessly charging mobile phones appeared on Jianghan Road in Wuhan, and many citizens shopping there tried them out.
According to staff from the Wuhan Construction Bureau, approximately 60 new street lights have been installed on Jianghan Road. Mobile phones with wireless charging capabilities can achieve ultra-fast charging at the lamp posts marked with "Wireless Phone Charging Port." Staff stated that 15 to 20 minutes of charging can provide over 70% battery capacity. Each street light is equipped with two charging ports and is freely available to the public. However, these new street lights can only charge mobile phones that support wireless charging.
Staff remind citizens to keep an eye on their phones while charging, as unattended devices are at risk of theft. Many citizens who have used this wireless charging street light say that such facilities are really great. When they need to use their phones for urgent matters but have no battery, these wireless charging street lights allow them to quickly charge their phones without causing delays.
Let's take another look at netizens' comments:
It is reported that during this year's National Day holiday, Jianghan Road, where these street lights are located, underwent a comprehensive upgrade over nearly half a year and ushered in a smart reboot. The mobile phone is the most important terminal for realizing Digital Jianghan Road, and the smart light poles on Jianghan Road provide a world-leading wireless fast charging system. The upgrade and renovation of Jianghan Road adopted a 5G smart light pole sensing network based on the concept of digital twins. These smart light poles implement twelve advanced smart applications, including 5G coverage, the Sky Net Project, smart blocks, wireless mobile charging, smart manhole covers, voice broadcasting, one-touch emergency assistance, smart information publishing, environmental monitoring, smart lighting, pedestrian flow monitoring, and smart epidemic prevention. This has made it one of the leading "5G Smart Pedestrian Streets" in China's first batch of pilot commercial pedestrian streets in terms of intelligence level and functional integration. Since the opening of the street, 27 sets of composite 5G micro base station brackets have been selected and installed on the smart light poles along Jianghan Road. The China Mobile 5G network coverage has been completed, making it a landmark project with the highest density of 5G pole station coverage among the pilot pedestrian streets. The smart light poles on Jianghan Road in Wuhan are also equipped with multiple device interfaces and separate compartments, providing interfaces for future addition of related intelligent devices. The Jianghan Road smart light pole project adopted a comprehensive "multi-pipe integration, multi-cabinet integration, multi-well integration" approach during construction, setting a model for Wuhan's future development of smart city infrastructure. Nighttime is the primary operating period for pedestrian streets, with significant fluctuations in visitor numbers at different times. In terms of lighting, the smart light poles installed on Jianghan Road feature automatic adjustment based on sunlight, single-lamp control, automatic switching, and leakage protection. They also link with architectural landscape lighting to participate in Jianghan Road's light shows. During late-night hours, they can enter sleep mode, maintaining lighting at the minimum safe illuminance level and focusing it entirely on the road surface to avoid disturbing nearby residents.
