Exclusive Interview | Flood lamp and Floodlight export volumes have ranked among the top for several consecutive years. How did Zongpusen achieve this?
From 2014 to 2020, over six years after its establishment, the export volume of flood lamps and floodlights has ranked first for several consecutive years. How did Zhongpusen achieve this? What targeted solutions were implemented to address issues encountered during the promotion of smart multifunctional poles?
Recently, China Light Network conducted an exclusive interview with Zhao Baohong, Deputy General Manager of Zhongpusen Technology (Zhuzhou) Co., Ltd.

Q: Could you introduce Zhongpusen and its flagship products?
A: Zhongpusen Technology (Zhuzhou) Co., Ltd. was established in January 2014, with a registered capital of RMB 168 million. It is a key project introduced by Zhuzhou State-owned Assets Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. through investment promotion from Shenzhen, and one of the key projects for Zhuzhou City to build a national "Two-Oriented Society" demonstration zone. It is a national high-tech enterprise.
Zhongpusen Technology is committed to promoting the development of an energy-saving and low-carbon economy. As a provider of LED smart lighting solutions, it integrates LED technology research, LED green lighting product design, LED lighting intelligent control, and LED lighting illumination engineering. Its products cover industrial lighting, outdoor lighting, landscape lighting, office lighting, automotive lighting, railway lighting, LED power supplies, and other fields. Product design emphasizes comprehensive performance, including health, environmental protection, stylish appearance, scientific light distribution, electrical reliability, and diversified intelligent control solutions.
Zongpusen's flagship products are road lighting and industrial lighting. Outdoor lighting mainly includes flood lamps, floodlights, street lights, tunnel lights, low-level lighting fixtures, wall washers, linear lights, and wall lights; industrial lighting mainly includes high-bay lights and tri-proof lights. These lighting products comply with all requirements of US standards, European standards, and Chinese national standards, offering excellent technical performance and good reliability.

Q: It is understood that Zonposen's flood lamps and floodlights have ranked among the top in export volume for several consecutive years. From its establishment in 2014 to this year, Zonposen has been in business for just over six years. How was this achieved?
A: R&D and Technology: The R&D strategy focuses on product requirements of key customers and the development of standard products. Meanwhile, Zhongpusen consistently adheres to an independent development and innovation path, emphasizing R&D innovation and investment. As of the first half of 2020, there were approximately 706 patents, including 73 invention patents (9 granted, 58 accepted, and 6 under application), 63 overseas patents (18 in the United States, 2 in Australia, and 43 in the European Union, including a total of 12 invention patents), 460 design patents, and 173 utility model patents.
Testing and Inspection: The laboratory focuses on various LED products developed by Zongpusen, covering over 70 models including panel lights, street lights, flood lamps, floodlights, ramp lights, linear lights, linear high-bay lights, and linear floodlights. The laboratory has obtained and maintains CNAS national laboratory accreditation, as well as TUV SUD, DEKRA, and UL WTDP witness laboratory qualifications. Zongpusen has passed annual audits and key customer reviews for ISO9001 International Quality Management System, ISO14001 International Environmental Management System, OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and IATF16949 Management System for Special Requirements of Production Parts and Related Service Parts in the Automotive Industry, and has been recognized as a Provincial Enterprise Technology Center.
In terms of operations and production: Zhongpusen owns 10 manual production lines, 1 automated production line, and 2 lean production lines. By adopting the "large-scale batch production + high-end customized production" model, it effectively improves production efficiency and quality. Currently, the company's annual Production capacity exceeds 10 million sets.
These factors have effectively ensured that Zongpusen achieved these outstanding results in a short period of time.
Q: Did encounter any issues during the promotion of smart multifunctional poles? How did Zongpusen address them specifically?
A: The promotion of smart multifunctional poles is a systematic project and a multidisciplinary integration. It not only includes smart lighting but also involves cross-industry system integration such as transportation, urban management, communications, and big data. Furthermore, promoting smart multifunctional poles requires cross-departmental integration among various government functional departments. There are two typical issues here: one is the issue of unified management and coordination among different government departments; the other is technical, namely the transmission of big data.
To address the first issue, we adopt a point-to-line-to-plane approach. In project selection, we prioritize small-scale renovations centered on communities as points, followed by functional upgrades along streets and towns as lines, and ultimately promote smart city applications across the entire urban area. In project execution, we recommend that the municipal government establish a comprehensive operations office as the central management hub. From this hub, coordination and management radiate outward to integrate various sectors such as street light management, traffic management, public security joint defense, and advertising information management. This radial integration facilitates cross-functional collaboration, removing communication barriers between different sectors at both radial and vertical operational levels, effectively resolving issues of information asymmetry and poor inter-departmental coordination.
Regarding the transmission of big data at the technical level, our smart multifunctional poles are equipped with devices requiring high-capacity data transmission, such as video surveillance cameras and information push advertising screens. Previous solutions involved laying optical fibers or network cables, which were costly and caused significant inconvenience to urban life due to trenching. With the advent of the 5G era, these issues have been effectively resolved.
The typical characteristics of 5G technology are high bandwidth and low latency. In the past, only 20 MB of data could be transmitted per second, but with new 5G technology, 1 GB or more of data can be transmitted per second. The exponential increase in computing power makes it possible to meet the demands of products in smart multifunctional poles, such as surveillance video and advertising/news push notifications, which require extremely fast data response speeds. This ensures both high-frequency real-time data processing capabilities and risk mitigation for data security.
As various related technologies mature and ride the wave of the national new infrastructure initiative, the promotion of smart multi-function poles in smart city applications will become increasingly proficient, bringing us closer to the era of intelligence.
Q: Can share a few landscape lighting projects that Zongpusen has participated in? How do Zongpusen's products play a role?
A: Zongpusen has participated in or led multiple iconic landscape lighting projects nationwide and within Hunan Province, such as the Hangzhou G20 Summit, the Shanghai Huangpu River light night show, the Xiangjiang Scenic Belt, the Xiangjiang Famous Pavilions at Shennong Lake Park, and the Shennong Grand Theatre.

In professional technical development, we emphasize precise control of light color and angles, as well as intelligent control systems. Our Nightscape / Landscape lighting reflects the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese landscaping concepts in terms of content, layers, and artistic conception, enhancing interaction between people and nightscape landscapes to meet modern people's behavioral, visual, and spiritual needs at night.
Q: How has the pandemic affected Zhongpusen? Will there be any changes in market promotion and layout? What is the future development direction of Zhongpusen?
A: In previous years, Zopson mainly focused on overseas ODM business. The early stage of the pandemic had a certain impact on Zopson's overseas sales. However, since the year before last, Zopson has vigorously expanded the domestic market, laying out domestic landscape engineering channels and developing key industry customers. This year, in response to the national economic development strategy of "building a new development pattern with the domestic cycle as the mainstay and mutual promotion of domestic and international dual cycles," Zopson has actively responded by shifting the focus of its market products from abroad to the domestic market. For end customers, it focuses on developing large central state-owned enterprise clients such as China Southern Power Grid, State Grid, and PetroChina. In the circulation sector, it prioritizes the channel market, cooperating with several large listed lighting companies in China that possess mature channels. Leveraging industrial scale and product advantages, Zopson has strengthened cooperation. Currently, multiple domestic projects are in the trial production stage. It is expected that in the fourth quarter, the share of the domestic market will approach approximately 40%, effectively ensuring the smooth achievement of the company's annual targets.
Zhongpusen's future development direction will ensure that domestic and international businesses advance simultaneously on dual tracks:
1) Regarding market development, the direction for domestic business has already been discussed and will not be repeated. For international business, we will vigorously expand into South American, African, and Middle Eastern markets on the existing foundation of Europe, America, and Asia-Pacific, fostering closer integration with diverse international markets.
2) In terms of product promotion, focus on developing smart light poles to meet the upgrade and renovation needs of smart cities, smart communities, and smart industrial parks, while vigorously promoting special lighting products for medical care, school education safety, etc.
3) Focusing on developing independent brands and increasing industry concentration, build the LED upstream and downstream supply chain in Zhuzhou to create a smart lighting industrial park with international competitiveness. Accelerate resource integration, improve response speed, reduce costs, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the enterprise.
4) Deepen the reform and innovation of employment and distribution mechanisms, firmly grasp the three key links of training, attracting, and utilizing talent, and strengthen the construction of a talent team centered on professional and technical personnel.
