The Mingzhu Bay Start-up Area in Nansha District, Guangzhou announced the establishment of a 7-kilometer intelligent driving demonstration section at Lingshan Island Tip. By building "smart roads" that match "intelligent vehicles," it aims to achieve efficient vehicle-road coordination and cross-domain information connectivity. Recently, the intelligent driving demonstration section support system has been successfully launched for trial operation in the Mingzhu Bay Start-up Area, with plans to commence the second phase of testing.

"Technology + Geography" Advantage, Mingzhu Bay Takes the Lead in Intelligent Driving

Located in the Mingzhu Bay Start-up Area, the core of Nansha, the district continuously explores the construction of a smart transportation system by leveraging next-generation information technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Last year, the Mingzhu Bay Start-up Area announced the establishment of a 7-kilometer intelligent driving demonstration section at Lingshan Island Tip. By building "smart roads" that match "intelligent vehicles," it aims to achieve efficient coordination among people, vehicles, and roads, as well as cross-domain information connectivity.

In August this year, the public consultation notice for the "Several Opinions on Further Supporting the Development of the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industry (Trial)" in Nansha District proposed that, within the Mingzhu Bay Start-up Area, test entities will be conditionally allowed to conduct road tests with no one in the driver's seat. This means that Mingzhu Bay will be the first to usher in the true era of "driverless driving".
Driven by advancements in automotive intelligence and connectivity technologies, Mingzhu Bay has taken the lead in overcoming technical bottlenecks such as vehicle information sharing coordination and road cooperative control, establishing a support system for an intelligent driving demonstration section at Lingshan Island Tip. Recently, the initial phase of Mingzhu Bay has successfully launched the trial operation of this intelligent driving demonstration section support system and plans to commence the second phase of testing. The system integrates technologies such as Internet of Vehicles (IoV), high-precision sensors, and wireless communication, breaking through technical barriers like non-line-of-sight perception for single vehicles and vehicle information sharing, thereby addressing issues related to cooperative safe driving and road cooperative control.
The widespread deployment of the intelligent driving demonstration section support system on Lingshan Island will provide hardware and technical support for subsequent autonomous driving, vehicle-to-infrastructure cooperative driving, intelligent transportation, and other related intelligent connected vehicle testing and application demonstrations in the Lingshan Island area. It will also drive the construction of a new generation smart transportation system in the Mingzhu Bay starting area, attract more upstream and downstream enterprises from the top-tier intelligent driving industry worldwide to settle in Nansha, and accelerate Nansha's development into a smart city.
Promote "integrated" development, making smart living within reach

The key to achieving fully driverless operations within a region lies not only in the "body" manufacturing of complete vehicles, but also in equipping vehicle-road collaboration solutions to promote information interaction and sharing among "vehicle-to-vehicle", "vehicle-to-road", "vehicle-to-pedestrian", and "vehicle-to-cloud". This enables coordination between intelligent vehicles and road infrastructure, realizing the integrated construction of intelligent traffic management, intelligent vehicle control, and intelligent dynamic information services.

With the promotion of the intelligent driving demonstration section's support system, the once-imagined scenario where users can book a ride with a single tap on their mobile phones and have driverless cars automatically transport passengers to designated locations has become part of daily life in Mingzhu Bay.
