Signify will close its Salina, Kansas factory and redeploy production
According to foreign media, Signify plans to close its manufacturing factory in Salina, Kansas, USA. To address the decline in traditional lighting demand, Signify plans to shift production of traditional lighting products from this factory to factories in Poland and India, leveraging economies of scale to improve efficiency.
The company will gradually transition its production and plans to cease operations at the Salina plant in Q2 2021.
Signify has signed an agreement to sell its Salina plant to a local manufacturing company. The transaction is expected to be completed by July 31, 2021.
Signify stated that this decision was not made lightly; with the ongoing transformation of the lighting industry, it is necessary. The company will support affected employees during the transition period and provide resources and training to help them through this difficult time.
