GaN-on-silicon epitaxial wafer expert ALLOS sells electronics and RF business

德国硅基氮化镓GaN-on-Si专家ALLOS Semiconductors宣布已经将旗下大功率电子以及射频业务卖给三五族芯片供应商AZUR SPACE。AZUR SPACE未来将透过此次收购的技术拓展其三五族芯片业务，而ALLOS则将专注于光电业务，聚焦在新兴Micro LED显示市场。

Since its inception, ALLOS has developed silicon-based GaN wafer technology for high-power electronics and Micro LED. "We have achieved a leading position in two very attractive markets. However, the technologies and business models required by customers in these two markets are different," pointed out Burkhard Slischka, co-founder and CEO of ALLOS. The technology and resources owned by AZUR SPACE can bring this technology into mass production and serve a global customer base. Due to the significant increase in market demand for silicon-based GaN HPE wafers, both parties look forward to gaining an advantage in long-term market layout through this transaction.

AZUR SPACE and ALLOS will complete the relevant business and technology transfer by the end of September 2020. AZUR SPACE has already opened customer inquiries prior to mass production.

After divesting related businesses, ALLOS has ceased serving the high-power electronics and RF markets but retains technology and control over its optoelectronics business. In the optoelectronics market, ALLOS believes that its 200 mm and 300 mm wafer technologies are crucial for new Micro LED displays, meeting the requirements for chip wavelength consistency and enhancing quality and mass-production capabilities.
