Nordeon Lighting undergoes self-administration restructuring

The Nordeon Group announced today that it has filed an application with the court requesting self-administration for Nordeon GmbH, Springe.

"Given the rapid spread of the coronavirus, we have decided to restructure the company," the announcement stated.

Reports indicate that Nordeon Group posted a loss of €11.5 million in 2018, the most recent year with public data. It is understood that the lighting factory in Springe, Germany, operated by Nordeon was responsible for most of these losses, which continued into 2019.

In 2012, Nordeon acquired from Philips Lighting (now Signify) its professional LED luminaire manufacturing and development facility in Springe, Germany. One year later, the company acquired German renowned outdoor lighting manufacturers Vulkan and Hess, which have a factory in Villingen, Germany.

"This process has not imposed major restrictions on our business operations; production continues. Customer orders will continue to be delivered with high caution and quality."
