On the evening of July 10, Fortune China released the latest Fortune China Listed Companies 500 Rankings, evaluating the performance and achievements over the past year of the largest Chinese listed companies worldwide. The list was compiled in cooperation between Fortune (Chinese edition) and the Wealth Management Department of CICC.

This year, the total revenue of the 500 listed Chinese companies on the list reached 45.5 trillion RMB, up 14.8% from last year, setting a new record; net profit reached 3.625 trillion RMB, up 4.21% from last year. Compared with the 24.24% increase of last year, growth has slowed significantly due to macroeconomic influences. The annual revenue threshold for companies on the list this year was 16.238 billion RMB, an increase of 17% compared to last year. Last year, China's GDP exceeded 90 trillion RMB for the first time, and the combined revenue of these 500 listed companies once again surpassed half of China's GDP that year.

The top five companies remain unchanged—still Sinopec, PetroChina, China State Construction, Ping An Insurance, and SAIC Motor—with Ping An ranking first among non-state-owned enterprises.

A total of 42 companies were newly listed or returned to the list this year. Among them, Xiaomi Corporation ranked 53rd with a total revenue of 174.9 billion yuan. Meituan Dianping ranked 140th with revenue of 65.2 billion yuan.

In terms of profitability, as was the case last year, the 10 most profitable listed companies, apart from several major commercial banks and insurance companies, are still China Mobile Limited, Tencent Holdings Limited and Alibaba Group Holding Limited. The total profit of these ten companies last year reached 1.46 trillion yuan, accounting for 40.3% of the total profits of all listed companies. In 2019, a total of 30 companies in the China Top 500 were unprofitable, with total losses reaching 177.1 billion yuan. Meituan Dianping, newly listed this year, topped the loss list with losses close to 115.5 billion yuan. iQiyi, newly listed last year, had losses of 9.4 billion yuan.

In the lighting industry, Dongxu Optoelectronics, Dongshan Precision and Mulinsen made the list. Dongxu Optoelectronics ranked 299th with revenue of 28.2 billion yuan (last year's rank: 420), while Dongshan Precision ranked 422nd with revenue of 19.8 billion yuan (last year's rank: 460).
