Recently, LED companies including Nationstar Optoelectronics, Jufei Optoelectronics, and Suijing Optoelectronics have successively issued announcements stating that they have obtained patent licenses from the international brand GE. For these companies, obtaining GE's patent licenses not only helps them further improve their patent portfolios, but also plays a significant role in promoting their expansion in overseas markets.

Nationstar Optoelectronics
Obtains GE White LED Application Patent License
On December 8, Nationstar Optoelectronics announced on its official WeChat that Nationstar Optoelectronics and U.S.-based GE signed a KSF (fluoride) phosphor application patent license agreement, officially obtaining GE's corresponding white LED application patent license worldwide.

Nationstar's R&D personnel stated that KSF phosphor has a narrower half-wave width than traditional nitride phosphors, which can effectively form high-color-gamut products, making LED display images clearer and colors richer. In addition, KSF phosphor with an NTSC 85%-100% color gamut range can achieve the color rendering effect of quantum dot TVs. Compared with the high cost of quantum dot technology, KSF phosphor technology is more mature and is a mainstream high-color-gamut solution in the display market, applicable to Nationstar's white light packaging products and backlight LIGHTBAR products.

Nationstar has always attached great importance to intellectual property work to meet the needs of expanding international markets. In October 2015, Nationstar obtained Toyota's white LED patent license. This time obtaining GE's white LED patent license will help Nationstar further improve its patent portfolio, accelerate the development and expansion of overseas markets, and enable Nationstar to shine brightly on the road of internationalization.

Suijing Optoelectronics
Obtains Specific Key Patent Licenses from GE in PFS Phosphor Technology
On December 6, Suijing Optoelectronics, an innovation-tier enterprise on the New Third Board, announced that the company recently signed a global LED high-color-gamut phosphor application patent license agreement with GE Lighting Solutions, LLC. of the United States. After the agreement is signed, Suijing Optoelectronics will obtain the global application rights of GE's specific key patents in PFS phosphor technology.

Suijing Optoelectronics believes that this patented technology can improve the color gamut range of the company's LED products to achieve display effects comparable to OLED, enhancing end-user satisfaction. This acquisition of GE's patent license will significantly promote the company's global market expansion in backlight high-color-gamut applications, including backlights of various sizes, help further enhance product added value and the company's core competitiveness, and also meet the patent needs of domestic and foreign customers, strengthening their confidence in the company's products.

Suijing Optoelectronics' core patent licensing layout is crucial to the company's future development, opening the door for the company to go global, marking an important step for Suijing Optoelectronics into the international market, and better supporting the international expansion of customers, helping to build a more solid patent protection for the company and its customers, and increasing the added value and core competitiveness of the company's products.

Jufei Optoelectronics
Obtains GE LED High-Color-Gamut Phosphor Application Patent License
On the evening of December 5, Jufei Optoelectronics announced that it had signed a global LED high-color-gamut phosphor application patent license agreement with GE Lighting Solutions, LLC. of the United States. According to the agreement, the company obtained the global application rights of GE's specific key patents in PFS (potassium fluorosilicate) phosphor technology. This patented technology can improve the color gamut range of the company's LED products to achieve display effects comparable to OLED, enhancing end-user satisfaction.

The announcement shows that the company currently has core technologies in ultra-thin, low light decay, high color rendering, high reliability and other aspects, forming more than a hundred patents and proprietary technologies. The company values and respects intellectual property rights and actively lays out core patent licenses to meet the rapid development needs of customers expanding into international markets. This acquisition of GE's patent license will enrich the company's high-end products and lay the foundation for the smooth development of global business.

Samsung Electronics
Obtains GE LED Phosphor and Other Patent Licenses
On November 2, U.S. time, the famous American lighting manufacturer GE Lighting Solutions LLC announced that it had signed a global patent license agreement with Korean manufacturer Samsung Electronics. According to this agreement, Samsung obtained specific key patents licensed by GE to serve as a tool for producing and selling LEDs and LED modules. These LED patent licenses include Potassium fluoride silicon (PFS) phosphor technology used in LED backlight products for LCD panels.
GE pointed out that the company is already a digitalized industrial company, and will use software-defined equipment, machines and solutions to connect industries in new ways and change the future of industries. Currently, GE is conducting more intellectual property exchanges worldwide, developing the future of each innovation into more industrial fields.
Korean manufacturer Samsung is still quite active in the LED market. After the company's restructuring, it continues to work hard in the LED component business. Obtaining GE's patent license will add value to Samsung's LED backlight component business, and there is an opportunity to avoid unnecessary legal proceedings. The cooperation results with GE may also be reflected in the lighting industry in the future.

Refond Optoelectronics
Obtains GE KSF Phosphor Application Patent License
In mid-July this year, Refond Optoelectronics signed a KSF phosphor application patent license agreement with GE Lighting Solutions, LLC. of the United States, thereby obtaining GE's KSF phosphor application patent license worldwide. Refond Optoelectronics is also the first LED packaging manufacturer in China to obtain the KSF phosphor application patent license.
It is understood that Refond Optoelectronics is mainly engaged in the R&D of LED packaging technology and the manufacturing and sales of LED packaging products, and is a professional LED packager and LED light source system integrator. Products mainly include high-end backlight LED devices and components (medium and large-size LCD TV backlights, computer backlights, mobile phone backlights, etc.), lighting LED devices and components, display LED devices and components, etc.
