The Lighting Association visited Yizhong Environmental Protection to jointly promote the development of group standards.

   On October 21, the Secretariat of the Shanghai Lighting Electrical Appliances Industry Association, together with members of the Standards Committee, paid a visit to Shanghai Yizhong Environmental Protection Technology Development Co., Ltd. and toured its Jiaxing germicidal lamp production base. A symposium was held to discuss the development of standards for an age-friendly luminaire series. The meeting adopted a hybrid format—both in-person and online—and was attended by committee chairpersons, vice chairpersons, committee members, and enterprise representatives.

Going Deep into Production: Gaining Firsthand Insights into Manufacturing Capabilities

   The meeting was convened at the company’s production site to enable committee members to gain a more direct understanding of the manufacturing process for germicidal lamps, laying a solid foundation for advancing the group standard-setting work with high quality. In the morning, attendees conducted an on-site tour of the germicidal lamp production base, engaging in thorough discussions with company technicians on production processes, quality control, raw material selection, and other key aspects. This provided them with a clear picture of the company’s production scale, technological sophistication, and quality-control capabilities.

     Currently, public awareness of health is steadily rising, and germicidal lamps are seeing increasingly widespread applications in healthcare, education, elderly care, home settings, and more. However, product quality in this market remains uneven, and the relevant standards system is still incomplete. Therefore, developing scientific and rigorous group standards holds significant practical importance.

Focusing on Two Key Issues: Thorough Deliberation Leads to Consensus

     At the symposium, Mr. Sun Weizhong, founder and general manager of Yizhong Environmental Protection, provided a detailed overview of the germicidal lamp product line, their technical principles, application scenarios, and the current standards in force. Meanwhile, Mr. Quan Yong, head of Shanghai Sansi, presented the framework and drafting approach for the “Age-Friendly Luminaire Series” standards.

    The two topics were discussed in depth, with both in-person and online participation. Experts offered numerous constructive suggestions and recommendations, providing crucial input for the Standards Committee’s informed decision-making.

Clarifying Next-Stage Plans to Ensure Effective Implementation of Standardization Efforts

     The meeting also reviewed plans for the next phase of work. With respect to the “Age-Friendly Luminaire Series” group standards, specific timelines and action plans were finalized. Through industry training, technical exchanges, and other initiatives, the committee aims to promote the effective implementation of these standards across research, development, production, and application stages—using standards to drive improvements in product quality, regulate the age-friendly lighting market, and foster the sustained, healthy growth of the Industry.

    Standards are the cornerstone of quality and the guiding force behind industry development. Moving forward, the Standards Committee of the Shanghai Lighting Electrical Appliances Industry Association will continue to leverage its professional expertise, pool collective wisdom, and work collaboratively to ensure the high-quality completion of these two group standardization projects, contributing to the industry’s standardized development and to a better quality of life for the public.
