Kingsun Zhu Bingzhong: New Thinking Drives Rapid Development of the LED Industry

Looking ahead at the prospects of the LED industry, everyone appears very confident. Ten years ago, China's LED output value was 9 billion yuan. Last year, China's LED market size exceeded 200 billion yuan. 100% of new outdoor projects use LED luminaires. Provinces such as Hunan, Anhui, and Shandong have successively introduced policies related to LED applications. It can be said that the prospects have already opened up. Indoor lighting grew 86.65% year-on-year compared to last year.
Faced with such market share and market capacity, how can LED companies secure a slice of the pie? How to position themselves? Traditional criticism channels?
Zhu Bingzhong said that Kingsun has blazed a path different from others in the engineering field, and during this process has gained extensive experience and resources. Therefore, up to now, Kingsun Optoelectronics firmly believes that the engineering replacement market is a very promising segment of the LED market in the next 2 to 3 years. For example, hospitals, schools, residential parking lots, supermarkets, and shopping mall parking lots—these property owners will not actively seek out manufacturers to buy lamps. They just say they have lights in use, so why change them? As LED companies, we cannot wait; we need to bypass this market and actively break through it. Therefore, methods need to be found to make breakthroughs in this particularly mass-market user segment.
How to capture the LED lighting replacement market? For example, with financial strength—users won't pay out of pocket to buy replacements; we have to rely on external forces and external capital to carry out such projects.
Zhu Bingzhong pointed out that in fact, everyone has very good connections and market resources. What's needed even more is product strength, because the replacement market is not an ordinary home consumer market; it may require very long maintenance periods and excellent after-sales service. Ultimately, business models are needed to solve various problems.
Resource integration and 'industry-academia-research' cooperation—many projects require companies to have solid strength and strong R&D capabilities, which represents resource integration in R&D. China's investment in the technology sector focuses on universities and research institutions. The technology and theoretical research produced by these universities and research institutions with national funding is difficult to commercialize in the market. By partnering with universities, companies can directly harvest the fruits of their research and commercialize them, directly generating economic benefits.
In addition, smart technology is also the future trend of LED lighting development. Moving from smart lighting to smart cities is the business that many companies are currently undertaking.
Zhu Bingzhong believes that under the broad concept of smart cities, smart lighting technology is being implemented very solidly, integrating technology with the larger environment of smart cities. The largest network in a smart city is the streetlight network, distributed across every corner of the city. When carrying out network upgrades, smart lighting technology can be embedded into it. This includes streetlight leakage testing, leakage monitoring, public security monitoring systems, traffic lights, sewer water level testing, PN2.5, temperature, etc., all of which can be integrated into the streetlight network through the network. Currently, many smart city initiatives remain at the slogan level and are still difficult to realize.
In fact, indoor lighting is equipped with a smart home control system, also called Smart Home, which enables intelligent control of the home. Zhu Bingzhong considers it an excellent, platform-based design. Through the light engine platform, products of different specifications can be quickly combined by replacing different housings, forming standardized production and reducing costs. Of course, the product itself enhances stability through downward convection.
Zhu Bingzhong also shared his views on business model innovation. He believes that business models can only be discussed once you have products, such as the factory incubation plan, the hundred-cities-thousand-stores plan, and the EMBT business model. These continuously launched plans have also gained market recognition, allowing the brand to be well-promoted in the market.
