LED Takes Charge: Industry Trends from Four Major Manufacturers' Press Conferences

Source: 互联网 Views: 922

In fact, last year, besides LED backlight technology, low-price wide-viewing-angle LCD monitors were another hot factor that triggered consumer purchasing enthusiasm. Unfortunately, however, at the press conferences of these four major brands of monitors, none of them focused on launching related products — they only provided us with some relevant information.

However, readers shouldn't feel disappointed, because although no wide-viewing-angle panel new products were released 'openly', it doesn't mean manufacturers won't launch these products 'behind the scenes'. For example, in March, Samsung quietly released an LCD monitor F2370H featuring a C-PVA wide-viewing-angle panel to the market, with a launch price of 1999 yuan, below 2000 yuan.

Additionally, at AOC's press conference, senior product manager Mr. Chen Chunshu also revealed to us that they are negotiating a new cooperation with LG Display — to 'integrate' IPS wide-viewing-angle panels into the newly released Razor series monitors. This model has left a deep impression on many netizens with its fashionable and avant-garde appearance. If it really comes equipped with an IPS panel, it's believed that this model's popularity will soar again.

BenQ, which had previously been focusing on LED backlights, also revealed at the press conference that it may launch monitor products using AUO's low-cost MVA wide-viewing-angle panels by the end of this year. It can be seen that many manufacturers plan to launch such models, but why are net users so interested in this type of product while manufacturers have not made it a priority? In fact, manufacturers have no real choice, as wide-viewing-angle panels are relatively expensive and constrained by production capacity, so they certainly will not be invested in on a large scale all at once like TN panel LCDs.

From the new products launched, we can see the development focus of monitor manufacturers this year and the development trend of the entire industry. Through these new products, we can see that LED backlight will be the main theme throughout 2010. First-tier brands like Samsung, LG, AOC, and BenQ have all started to launch LED backlight models across their entire product lines, indicating that LED backlight technology has basically matured. When LED backlight enters mass production, its cost will continue to decrease, posing a significant threat to CCFL backlight. In addition, how to make monitors more user-friendly, easier to operate, with greater added value, and how to break away from homogenization are problems that every monitor manufacturer is facing and solving. However, it can be seen that current first-tier manufacturers can effectively avoid homogenization through their unique technologies and exterior designs, and the thickness of monitor bodies will definitely be a new battleground for everyone in the future.
