Ledaik Enters Sharp and Nichia Chemical LED Lighting Supply
The "multi-chip packaged reflector cup" newly launched by Ledaik, a leading secondary optical lens manufacturer, has successfully entered the LED lighting supply chains of Sharp and Nichia Chemical. It is expected to capture Japan's indoor and commercial lighting markets, adding further momentum to the company's operations in the second half of the year.
Factors such as high electricity costs in Japan and unstable power supply following the 3/11 earthquake have driven the vigorous development of LED indoor lighting in Japan. Sharp, a major Japanese home appliance manufacturer, has also formulated an LED lighting production expansion plan and is actively seeking component supply in Taiwan. Through Sharp's extensive home appliance market channels, Ledaik's reflector cup is expected to become the biggest beneficiary in Japan's LED indoor lighting market.
Ledaik stated that the company spent 6 months on the manufacturing of reflector cups, using light pattern and light source simulation, and producing "mold cores" with high-speed processing machines for customers to use. Finally, precise reflector cups are made through stamping and injection molding. The reflector cups are available in two styles: pure aluminum and plastic with aluminum coating, which can simulate traditional lighting effects with multi-chip packaged LED light sources.
LedLink points out that LEDs with COB (multi-chip) packaging are now beginning to enter mass production, making this the optimal time to launch multi-chip packaged reflector cups. The company has already entered the supply chains of Edison and BridgeLux (a TSMC-invested company). In addition, component suppliers including Citizen, Sharp, and Nichia have also approached LedLink for orders. Demand is expected to increase significantly from August to September, with Sharp and Nichia leading market growth first.
