Zhengzhou Central LED Lighting Trading Center to distribute 6,000 LED lights free of charge

From April 22 to 26, taxi drivers in Zhengzhou can collect one LED light for free with their vehicle registration; from April 27 to May 3, customers who shop at Zhengzhou Metro and Xin Jiaju can collect one for free with their purchase receipt.

　　As the blooming month of May approaches, spring is in full swing, evoking the phrase "green ecology." In response to the national call for energy conservation and emission reduction and the policy outlined in the "Announcement on Gradually Prohibiting the Import and Sale of Ordinary Lighting Incandescent Lamps," the Central LED Lighting Trading Center is actively cooperating with this national initiative. From April 22 (World Earth Day) to May 3, it will hold the activity "April 22 World Earth Day, Responding to the Government's Call, Advocating Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, 'Caring for Our Taxi Driver Brothers and Sisters' and Green City Low-Carbon 'Chip' Lifestyle," during which 6,000 LED lights will be distributed to the city free of charge. It is understood that from April 22 to 26, taxi drivers across the city can receive one LED light for free with their vehicle registration; from April 27 to May 3, customers who shop at Metro and Xin Jiaju can receive one for free with their purchase receipt.

　　Saving the Earth, benefiting thousands of households

The reporter learned from the event site that this activity was initiated and hosted by the Zhengzhou Central LED Lighting Trading Center. The 6,000 LED lamps distributed free of charge were jointly sponsored and provided by Zhongli International Group, Tsinghua Tongfang and another brand.

Currently, there are three lighting methods in the world: traditional incandescent lamps, energy-saving fluorescent lamps, and LED lighting. Among them, there are 15 billion traditional incandescent lamps, 3 billion energy-saving fluorescent lamps, and 10 million LED lighting lamps. Lighting electricity consumption accounts for about 15% of the world's total electricity. If all were replaced with LED, the electricity saved would be enough to exceed the annual power generation of three Three Gorges Dams. A few days ago, the National Development and Reform Commission announced that China will gradually phase out incandescent lamps from 2012, and will prohibit the import and sale of incandescent lamps after October 1, 2016, replacing them with high-efficiency lighting.

It is reported that the LED lamps distributed in this activity have a specification of 3~4W. According to the on-site technical staff, a 3~4W LED lamp can replace a 7W energy-saving lamp. Lamps of this specification already account for more than 40% of China's sales volume, with a cost price of 40~50 yuan.

The Zhengzhou Central LED Lighting Trading Center is sending a small LED lamp to the entire city. Whether viewed from the purpose of the activity or the number of beneficiaries, this is unprecedented in Zhengzhou. It not only responds to the national "Incandescent Lamp Phase-Out Roadmap" but also reflects the "painstaking efforts" in energy conservation and consumption reduction.

According to the main person in charge, Mr. Liu, environmental protection and energy conservation are currently crucial to economic development. Through this initiative, which allows 6,000 households to "get a first look" and be the first to experience low-carbon living, on the one hand, daily electricity expenses will be significantly reduced, allowing them to enjoy the long-term benefits brought by a high-tech product; on the other hand, it cultivates citizens' environmental awareness, advocates energy conservation for all, and puts energy-saving and emission-reduction work into practice.

　　A Zhengzhou citizen who participated in the on-site activity said in an interview: Although the gift is small, it carries great significance. I have been following LED products for a long time. I am honored to receive an LED energy-saving lamp today. It not only reduces our electricity expenses but also reduces the maintenance and replacement costs of lighting fixtures. Moreover, I think such methods can not only benefit the public but also raise people's awareness of the importance of energy conservation and emission reduction, encouraging them to actively support and practice energy saving and consumption reduction.

　　Saves over 80% on electricity bills compared to incandescent bulbs

　　Unlike incandescent bulbs, LED lights can convert more electrical energy into light energy, achieving the same luminous effect. The energy saved by LED lights is over 80-90% of that of incandescent bulbs.

　　"A nearly 6W LED lamp produces the same brightness as a 60W ordinary incandescent lamp, but is more energy-efficient." An industry insider told reporters that, based on an average of 5 hours of lighting per day, a single LED lamp can save 62 kWh of electricity per year, saving approximately 90% on electricity costs compared to ordinary incandescent lamps. Since these LED lamps have slow light decay and are not easily damaged, they do not need to be replaced for 5-10 years. They are more energy-efficient than ordinary energy-saving lamps, and will greatly change the current situation of saving electricity but not saving money. Relevant experts pointed out that eliminating incandescent bulbs requires everyone to gradually change their mindset. Although the purchase price of LED lamps is currently relatively high, their service life is generally 5 times that of incandescent bulbs, and their power consumption is low, so in the long run they actually save money.

　　Mr. Sun, who uses LED lights, said: "Previously, my family's monthly electricity bill was around 40 yuan. We only used 15W bulbs and didn't dare to turn on the lights often. The year before last, a friend from Beijing brought me an LED lamp. Last year alone, my family saved over 200 yuan on electricity. That's a saving of more than 2,000 yuan over ten years. It's really worth it!"

　　Based on a rough estimate, the Zhengzhou Central LED Lighting Trading Center has distributed free 3W LED lamps to 6,000 households across the city. Compared with 40W ordinary lighting lamps, this can save at least RMB 220,000 in electricity costs per year. These energy-saving lamps have a lifespan of 5–10 years, with an average of 6 years, saving RMB 1.32 million in electricity costs and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3.48 million kilograms.
