Association leaders attended the 2026 Second Forum on New-Generation Lighting Productivity, Technological Innovation, and Development.

On September 3, the “2026 Second Forum on Technological Innovation and Development of New‑Generation Lighting Productivity” was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Wang Xuhua, Vice Chairman of the China Lighting Fixture Association, attended the event and delivered a speech. Deng Maolin, Deputy Secretary-General, and Liu Qian, General Manager of Beijing Electric Light Source Testing & Certification Co., Ltd., also participated. The forum was chaired by Wang Zhengtao, former Secretary-General of the Beijing Illumination Society. Leaders from the Party Committee of the Jiangxi LED Industry Chain, the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Jiangxi Semiconductor Lighting and Display Industry Association, and the Jiangxi Illumination Society, along with representatives from lighting enterprises nationwide and experts from research institutions and universities, were present.

In his address, Vice Chairman Wang Xuhua of the China Lighting Fixture Association noted that this year marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. At the national strategic level, priorities for the next five years have been clearly defined as high‑quality development and improvements in people’s livelihoods, setting a clear direction and raising expectations for the lighting industry. This year’s forum, themed “AI Integration, Photonic Transformation, and a New Era Toward Carbon Neutrality and Health,” provided an important platform for exchange and discussion, underscoring its significance for guiding the lighting sector’s transformation and upgrading toward high quality over the coming years.

Looking back at the achievements of the lighting industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan, Chairman Wang highlighted several key advances: First, leading enterprises have played a pivotal role as stabilizing forces and trendsetters, continuously investing in technological innovation, breaking through industry bottlenecks, and driving standard upgrades. Second, high‑quality small and medium‑sized enterprises have steadily grown; by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the number of nationally recognized “Little Giant” companies specializing in niche areas within the lighting supply chain exceeded 300, accounting for 1.6% of the national total and serving as a cornerstone of the industry’s high‑quality development. Over these five years, with recommendations from the association, numerous enterprises and universities achieved provincial‑ or ministerial‑level scientific and technological appraisal for breakthroughs in visual health, intelligent control, green design, non‑visual applications of light, automotive lighting, and other fields—reaching internationally advanced levels and earning awards for scientific and technological progress from the China National Light Industry Federation. Several products were also included in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Catalogue of Upgraded and Innovative Consumer Goods.

At the same time, Chairman Wang pointed out ongoing challenges facing the industry, including insufficient economies of scale, excess low‑end production capacity, and intensifying price‑driven homogeneous competition. He further noted that disorderly competition often manifests as heavy marketing and light R&D, emphasizing concepts over fundamentals. As technologies converge, product functionalities evolve, and standards and regulations are upgraded, lighting products now face new quality issues and heightened quality risks in both domestic and international markets.

Chairman Wang emphasized that the lighting industry is currently at a critical juncture of transformation and upgrading, with trends toward greening, digitalization, intelligence, and health accelerating industry-wide change. He stated that the China Lighting Fixture Association will continue to work hand in hand with enterprises, research institutions, and technical service providers to build comprehensive platforms for innovation, standardization, market access, and talent development, fostering an open, collaborative industrial environment and jointly advancing the high‑quality development of China’s lighting sector.

In her remarks, Liu Qian, General Manager of Beijing Electric Light Source Testing & Certification Co., Ltd., underscored that we are now in a crucial window for technological innovation and cross‑industry integration in the lighting sector. Cultivating new‑generation productivity has become an imperative, requiring the industry to focus on cutting‑edge source‑technology innovation, seize opportunities presented by digital transformation, deepen efforts in healthy lighting, firmly pursue a green, low‑carbon trajectory, and expand the boundaries of industry development—all driven by technological advancement and integrated growth to strengthen and elevate the lighting industry.

Vice Chairman Wang Xuhua of the China Lighting Fixture Association chaired a roundtable discussion, inviting experts including Xie Yunsheng, Tian Zhen, Zhou Xiang, Lin Jiliang, and Wang Peng to engage in an in-depth dialogue under the theme “Green Transformation and Technological Innovation Pathways for the Lighting Industry Under the ‘Dual Carbon’ Goals.” Participants exchanged views across multiple dimensions—including policy guidance, technological R&D, standard setting, and market application—leading to lively discussions and offering diverse perspectives to support the industry’s green transition and technological advancement.
