Deepening Facility Agriculture, Empowering Industry Revitalization | National Advanced Seminar on Horticultural Lighting and Plant Factories Opens in Beijing in September

The No. 1 Central Document of 2026 points out that anchoring the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and solidly promoting comprehensive rural revitalization are the primary goals. The most important aspect of rural revitalization is industry revitalization. In the context of the "Big Food View", vigorously developing modern agriculture is crucial. As an emerging technology- and equipment-intensive industry with multidisciplinary cross-integration, the horticultural lighting and plant factory industry plays a key role in promoting high-quality development of modern agriculture and food security. In the past 10 years, driven by strong national policies, R&D and scenario applications of horticultural lighting and plant factories have achieved leapfrog development. Especially in the past 3 years, under the national encouragement of the "National Plan for the Construction of Modern Facility Agriculture (2023-2030)", innovative elements such as talent, capital, technology, and information have accelerated their aggregation, achieving significant progress in new quality productive forces in horticultural lighting and plant factories, optimizing industrial layout, and accelerating the expansion of industrial demand. LED horticultural lighting penetration in facility agriculture has increased year by year, plant factory functions continue to be explored, a new batch of benchmark enterprises in horticultural lighting and plant factories has emerged, and the industry is thriving.


In order to promote in-depth exchange and sharing of results on the operating principles and frontier, key, and core technical equipment of horticultural lighting and plant factories, discuss difficult problems in plant factory production practice, and jointly discuss the path to high-quality industry development, the 2026 National Advanced Seminar on Technical Equipment for Horticultural Lighting and Plant Factories is scheduled to be held in Beijing from September 18 to 20. This training session invites well-known experts and famous entrepreneurs such as Researcher Liu Wenke from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Chen Jianjun from Huazhong Agricultural University, and Professor Zou Jun from Shanghai Institute of Technology for in-depth teaching, interactive communication, and answering questions, comprehensively analyzing the principles and key core technologies of horticultural lighting and plant factories, and exchanging ideas on application scenario innovation.

Time: September 18–20, 2026 (Registration on the afternoon of the 17th, return on the afternoon of the 20th)


Location: No. A3, Changpocun, Dabeiyao, Chaoyang District, Beijing (within the premises of Beijing Electric Light Source Research Institute)

V. Expert Introduction


01

Liu Wenke


Researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Agricultural Environment and Sustainable Development, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Currently serves as a member of the Agricultural Lighting Professional Committee of China Illuminating Engineering Society and a member of the Seed Industry Equipment Branch of Chinese Society of Agricultural Machinery. He is a core member of the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Innovation Team for Agricultural Biological Environment Science and Engineering". He has presided over more than 10 national-level projects, including the National 863 Program, National Natural Science Foundation, and Key R&D Program. His main research directions are LED plant factories and high-quality, high-yield technical equipment for greenhouse horticulture, covering vegetables, medicinal plants, LED supplemental lighting, and soilless cultivation. He has published 360 papers as first/corresponding author (55 SCI), authored 6 monographs including "LED Light Sources and Their Applications in Protected Horticulture", won 2 National Science and Technology Progress Awards and 1 National Patent Gold Award, participated in drafting the national standard GB/T 32655-2016, and supervised more than 20 graduate students.

Chen Jianjun


Professor and doctoral supervisor at the College of Engineering, Huazhong Agricultural University; Director of the Department of Optoelectronic Engineering; Director of the Research Team for Common Technologies and Equipment in Opto-Mechatronics. Currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Modern Physical Agricultural Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Machinery. Mainly engaged in research on smart agriculture technologies such as crop phenomics, agricultural sensors, and agricultural robots, focusing on overcoming key opto-mechanical-electrical technologies in fields such as edible fungi and facility fruits and vegetables. Has presided over more than 30 projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, Hubei Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and university-enterprise cooperation. Visited the University of Georgia, USA, from 2015 to 2016. In 2022, he was selected for Hubei Province's "Academicians and Experts Enterprise Tour" and the "Science and Technology Innovation China" National Agricultural Machinery Equipment Industry Science and Technology Service Team, and was appointed as a provincial scientific and technological commissioner twice.

Zou Jun


Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, leading talent of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", and scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship talent under the Ministry of Science and Technology's Innovation Talent Promotion Plan. Long-term commitment to research in optoelectronic semiconductor packaging and testing and photobiological regulation, constructing an optoelectronic full Industry / Supply chain model from "materials to devices, and devices to systems". Presided over more than 60 major projects including the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, National Natural Science Foundation, and provincial/ministerial level projects. Published over 100 papers in the past five years, authorized 66 invention Patents and 86 utility models, with 88 Patent transfers. Chief editor of 6 monographs including "LED Thermal Management and Heat Dissipation Technology Applications". Received multiple honors such as the First Prize of Zhejiang Provincial Technical Invention, Second Prize of Shanghai Technical Invention, China Patent Excellence Award, and First Prize of the China Association for Promoting Inventions Entrepreneurship Award. Guided students to win national-level awards in "Internet+" and "Challenge Cup".


VI. Participants


Relevant personnel engaged in protected horticulture, plant photobiology, and light regulation technology research from higher education institutions, research institutes, and agricultural technology extension departments; graduate student representatives; relevant personnel from enterprises and institutions involved in the R&D, production, and promotion of new technologies and equipment for protected horticulture and plant factories; technical management personnel from horticultural crop planting enterprises and cooperatives; representatives of modern agricultural industrial parks, etc.


7. Fee Standards


1. On-site training: Conference fee of 3,800 yuan/person (including training, venue, materials, certificates, and other related fees); students (doctoral, master's, and undergraduate students) 2,600 yuan/person (with student ID). Lunch and dinner during the training period will be arranged uniformly; accommodation expenses are at your own expense (assistance with arrangements can be provided). Materials and certificates will be collected on-site.


2. Online training: Conference fee of 2,200 yuan/person (including training, materials, certificates, and other related fees). Certificates will be mailed uniformly after the conference.
