The 3rd Fudan Light: Reshaping the Value of Light & 2026 Lighting Ruichuang Awards Ceremony

At the start of the "15th Five-Year Plan", against the strategic backdrop of the nation's full promotion of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and green, low-carbon transformation, the lighting industry is entering a critical period of transition from scale expansion to value creation. Light is no longer merely a tool for illuminating spaces; it has become the nerve endings of smart cities, an important carrier for healthy living, and a key link in achieving the "Dual Carbon" goals.


As the cradle of China's lighting technology innovation, the Institute of Electric Light Sources at Fudan University has always stood at the forefront of scientific research and industrial innovation. For over forty years, it has cultivated more than 3,000 high-level professional talents, continuously leading breakthroughs and development in fields such as light source technology, healthy lighting, and intelligent systems. In 2026, the Fudan University Alumni Association Lighting Chapter and the Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering / Institute of Electric Light Sources of the School of Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (hereinafter referred to as the Innovation School) of Fudan University jointly established the "Lighting Ruichuang Award", aiming to recognize the technological innovation achievements of Fudan alumni in lighting and related cross-disciplinary fields, inherit the spirit of Fudan's electric light sources, and promote the construction of an industry ecosystem characterized by "academic leadership + industrial linkage + innovation empowerment".


On June 9, during the 31st GILE (Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition), the themed forum "The 3rd Fudan Light: Reshaping the Value of Light" and the 2026 Lighting Ruichuang Awards Ceremony will be grandly held. This event will gather outstanding Fudan alumni, academic authorities, industry pioneers, and design masters, to engage in in-depth sharing on cutting-edge topics such as color vision accessibility technology, sky light environment simulation, individual differences in human eye photobiological response, AI-driven ultra-energy-saving lighting, frontier applications of infrared therapy devices, comprehensive safety defense lines for road lighting, and AI with traffic operation, while simultaneously announcing the winners of the first Lighting Ruichuang Award. This is not only a feast of ideas for academia and industry, but also a collective declaration by Fudan's light source professionals facing the future and leading the high-quality development of the industry.

Zhang Shanduan


Director of the Institute of Electric Light Sources, Fudan University


Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of the Institute of Electric Light Sources at Fudan University, and Head of the Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering at the School of Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Innovation, Fudan University.


Undergraduate student of the Class of 1993 in the Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering at Fudan University; received a Ph.D. in Science in 2003.


Research focuses on electric light sources and their applications. He has led more than 40 national and local projects, international cooperation projects, and industry-university-research collaboration projects. He has published over 130 papers in domestic and international academic journals, delivered more than 70 invited reports at academic conferences, and holds more than 30 authorized invention patents. Research achievements such as laser plasma light sources, microwave electrodeless UV light sources, excimer UV light sources, and UV LED curing systems have been industrialized and applied in advanced manufacturing fields such as semiconductors and display panels. The "High-Efficiency UV LED Curing System for Optical Fiber Drawing Towers" won the Silver Award for Innovation at the 18th China International Industry Fair in 2016.

Ye Xuanfeng


Founder of Zhejiang Qicheng Electric Appliance Co., Ltd.


With over thirty years of industry experience, he has remained focused on the fields of lighting electrical systems and HVAC electrical systems. As the chief product R&D planner, he leads technological innovation and has won multiple international and domestic invention patents. He spearheaded the development of several world-first lighting electrical connectors, and several HVAC electrical products were among the first in their category in China to obtain US UL Certification. Furthermore, he is actively engaged in industry development and was invited to participate in the drafting of national standards, international standard alliances, and industry specifications.

Dai Qi


Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Electric Light Sources, Fudan University


Mainly engaged in LED light source technology and applications, Healthy lighting and healthy displays, as well as research on vision and color science. Published more than 40 papers in internationally authoritative academic journals, cited over 4,000 times; granted more than 20 Patents in China and internationally; led the drafting of multiple national, local, and group standards; presided over more than 20 scientific research projects, including multiple National Natural Science Foundation projects, aerospace medicine experimental projects, and industry-university-research cooperation projects with enterprises; awarded the China Light Industry Council Science and Technology Progress Award, Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, and China Invention Association Invention Entrepreneurship Achievement Award; serves as a director of the Shanghai Lighting Society, deputy chairman of the Expert Committee, and technical consultant for several leading industry enterprises.

Guo Weihong


Senior Engineer, PhD from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences


Graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering at Fudan University, and obtained a PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Engaged in the verification of light environment and lighting integrated design, serving as the technical leader of the Sky Light Environment Laboratory. Published 16 papers, obtained 6 Patents, and released 3 group standards. Received the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation from the China Illuminating Engineering Society, the Second Prize in the Shanghai Testing Innovation Competition, and the First Prize in the "Struggle Cup" Shanghai Young Talent Skills Competition. Led the development of the globally leading sky light environment simulation system, breaking through bottlenecks in dynamic light environment simulation technology, improving the complete machine light environment experimental technology system, providing core technical support for product performance, human-machine safety, and multi-field light environment research, achieving good social benefits.

Hou Dandan


Institute of Human Phenomics, Fudan University, Postdoctoral Fellow


Research interests include individual differences in photobiological effects, lighting ergonomics, and color science. Published 13 SCI papers in journals such as Building and Environment, Phenomics, and Lighting Research and Technology; led projects including the National Natural Science Foundation for Young Scholars, the Open Fund of the Key Laboratory of High Altitude Medicine (Ministry of Education), and general postdoctoral projects; published 9 papers at major industry conferences and filed 8 Patents; serves as a member of the CIE Technical Committee TC 3-62 for Indoor lighting, and as a young editorial board member of the journal "Phenomics". Recipient of the IEA Ergonomics Association's "Human Factors Research Award for Developing Countries", Fudan University "Super Postdoctoral Fellow", Shanghai "Super Postdoctoral Fellow" and other honors.
