In recent years, the structure of China's tourism market has been constantly changing, showing trends such as market sinking, diversification of tourism destinations, and county-level cultural tourism becoming increasingly "hot"—as city neon lights reach their peak,county-level night tourism is quietly writing a new legend.
According to the newly released "National County Tourism Research Report2025",in 2024, the average number of tourists received by counties in China exceeded5.8million, a Year-on-year (YoY) increase of14.26%, and total tourism revenue grew by9.96%.
County-level cultural tourism has rapidly become "hot" under the guidance of policies and markets, the integration of culture and tourism and consumption drive, and the empowerment of high-speed transportation networks and new media communication. The growth rate of tourism development in some counties has even surpassed that of large and medium-sized cities,"small counties outperforming major cities"has become a new highlight of the tourism market.
In this boom in lower-tier markets, the "night economy" has become the most dazzling growth pole—innovative formats such as light shows, immersive performances, and metaverse scenarios are emerging endlessly, and county-level cultural tourism is comprehensively upgrading from "lighting projects" to a "light and shadow ecosystem".
