Forum on Dual Carbon Goals and Green Smart City Development
Theme: Dual Carbon Goals, Green Smart Cities
In September 2020, President Xi Jinping pointed out in his important speech at the general debate of the 75th United Nations General Assembly that China will increase its nationally determined contributions, adopt more powerful policies and measures, strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030, and strive to achieve "carbon neutrality" before 2060. Actively responding to climate change and fulfilling the national commitments to peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality (hereinafter referred to as "Dual Carbon") is a daunting challenge facing China today. 2021 is China's "Year of Carbon Neutrality". This year, "peak carbon" and "carbon neutrality" were included in the Government Work Report for the first time and listed as one of the key tasks for 2021.
In recent years, the Chinese government and academia have carried out a series of theoretical and practical explorations focused on solving resource and environmental problems, achieving great accomplishments. New concepts such as green development, low-carbon development, circular economy, eco-cities, and smart cities continue to emerge.
The development of green smart cities is one of the important directions for transforming China's development model and an important embodiment of the "Chinese path". How to innovate systems and mechanisms, gather synergy, stimulate potential, and establish a development community with joint participation and shared interests among stakeholders is the core issue in the development of green smart cities. Taking the development of green smart cities as the overall framework and innovation as the guide, we integrate development paths such as "ecology", "low carbon", "circular economy", and "smart technology" to comprehensively transform value judgments, production methods, lifestyles, construction methods, management models, and social culture in urban development. We aim to establish a new win-win model for urban development, comprehensively address resource and environmental issues, and ultimately achieve harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
During the 2021 World Internet of Things Expo, the "Forum on Dual Carbon Goals and Green Smart City Development" will be held, focusing on dual carbon goals and the development of green smart cities. This forum will explore new opportunities for industry cooperation from perspectives such as dual carbon goals, energy saving and environmental protection, green energy, smart light poles, and their IoT applications.
