Online Forum on High-Quality Classroom Lighting Environments

On April 15, 2020, one of the "Discussions on High-Quality Classroom Lighting Environments" was held as an online live broadcast, jointly hosted by the Semiconductor Professional Committee of the China Lighting Association, the Talent Professional Committee of the China Lighting Association, and China Quality Certification (CQC), with support from Zhejiang Yankon Group Co., Ltd., and organized by Light of China Network · Ming Classroom. Approximately 3,600 participants watched and joined the forum online.

In recent years, the state has gradually attached importance to the eye health of teachers and students at school, and more lighting companies have increased their investment in the classroom lighting market. How to improve the light quality of classroom lighting has become one of the hot topics in the industry. The forum aims to discuss issues related to high-quality classroom lighting environments, helping enterprises understand technologies, standards, market conditions, etc., related to classroom lighting. To this end, the forum invited seven representatives from lighting industry enterprises and relevant industry experts and leaders to deliver special reports on hot issues regarding high-quality classroom lighting environments, helping enterprises understand the latest developments in classroom lighting.



Wang Zhuo, Secretary-General of the China Lighting Association, delivered the opening remarks for the forum. She thanked the guest speakers and manufacturing enterprises participating in this event, and specially thanked the Talent Professional Committee of the China Lighting Association for holding the Cloud Classroom series of activities during the epidemic period, providing many opportunities for exchange and interaction to the industry through the Ming Classroom online activities. With the theme "Jointly Creating a High-Quality Lighting Environment," she introduced the concept of high-quality lighting environments, how to create high-quality lighting environments, the importance of classroom lighting environments, and other content. She expressed her hope that, taking the nationwide attention to health as an opportunity and with the mission of protecting the visual health of adolescents, the lighting industry would be promoted to transform towards high-quality development, meeting new challenges and opportunities.

Chen Song, Deputy Manager of the New Energy Product Certification Department at China Quality Certification Center (CQC), Secretary of the CNCA TC05 Lighting Electrical Technology Expert Group under the National Certification and Accreditation Administration, and Member of the Luminaire Subcommittee of SAC/TC 224, delivered a keynote report on "Certification for High-Quality Lighting Environment in Classrooms." He introduced the significance of current classroom lighting certification, relevant standard requirements, and CQC's advantages in classroom lighting certification from multiple perspectives, including project background, certification, technical requirements, and certification rules.

Zhao Jianping, Deputy Director of the Institute of Building Environment and Energy at China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd., and Director of the Daylighting and Lighting Quality Inspection Department at the National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Construction Engineering, presented a topic titled "Reflections on High-Quality Light Environments in Schools." He introduced the development of national standards related to light environment design, focusing on the origin and evolution of application standards for light environments and reflections on issues in classroom light environments. He particularly emphasized the role of natural light in classroom lighting and raised considerations including the impact of classroom light environments on the vision of primary and secondary school students, as well as factors affecting vision such as color temperature and illuminance.

Li Bingjun, General Manager of Yangming Lighting's Domestic Engineering Company, delivered a keynote report on the "Yangming Healthy Classroom Smart Lighting System." He introduced various Yangming Lighting classroom lighting products, key technical points, and visual health-oriented classroom lighting systems.

Chen Yansheng, Chairman of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), commented on the speeches of the three guest speakers. He affirmed the content of their presentations and reminded attendees to distinguish between classroom lighting standards and certifications, correctly understanding product certification, mandatory certification, and performance certification. He believed that classroom lighting renovations should be adapted to local conditions and expressed hope that the industry would engage in more discussions on classroom lighting.



Song Xianjie, Director of the Talent Training Work Committee of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI) and Professor at the Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering, Fudan University, discussed parts of the aforementioned speeches. He noted that the relevant standard indicators for classroom lighting are increasing year by year, and the luminaire industry is gradually becoming a high-tech industry. He also discussed issues such as standards for university classroom lighting luminaires and the installation of classroom lighting control systems.



Experts and leaders at the Forum also answered questions from some online users, including the implementation of mandatory standards for classroom lighting, the emphasis on various classroom lighting indicators, the adoption of parameters in mandatory classroom lighting standards, and blackboard illumination solutions. The Forum was rich in content and highly interactive, with attendees expressing that they benefited greatly.
