In preparation for the upcoming largest international football tournament in Europe, global lighting leader Signify (Euronext Amsterdam ticker: LIGHT) has recently completed lighting upgrades at six top European football stadiums. After upgrading from traditional lighting systems to smart connected LED lighting systems, the stadiums can provide the best match and viewing experience for players on the field, as well as for live and television audiences. The upgraded lighting systems offer ultra-high flexibility to meet the needs of customized light shows before and after matches. In addition, the overall solution combining world-class Philips LED luminaires and the Interact smart connected lighting system optimizes energy efficiency and reduces operational and maintenance costs.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many international tournaments were postponed or canceled. The football tournament held in Europe in the summer of 2021 will be the first international sporting event to resume.

To perfectly present Europe's largest sporting event, stadium owners chose Signify for the lighting system upgrade. Signify installed the industry's best Philips LED sports flood lamps in each stadium, meeting the most stringent international broadcast standards and supporting flicker-free super slow-motion replays, ensuring TV viewers do not miss any exciting moments. Signify also installed the Interact smart connected lighting system in major stadiums, simultaneously meeting the requirements for light shows and match lighting specified by international football organizations. Meanwhile, Signify applied Color Kinetics LED products to create dynamic light shows on facades and stands.

By upgrading traditional lighting to LED intelligent connected lighting systems, stadium operational flexibility can be further enhanced to quickly adapt to the lighting needs of different entertainment activities and sports events. The Vari-lite entertainment lighting system helps managers choreograph unique light shows, and through integration with the Interact system, it can also integrate the lighting system with third-party audio systems to synchronize music and lighting, enhancing the viewing experience for both on-site and television broadcast audiences.

Serving major international events, stadiums that meet relevant broadcast requirements have very high demands for the installation and maintenance of lighting systems. The lighting system must always be in optimal condition. The greatest advantage of LED lighting systems lies in their high flexibility to meet the stadium's need for rapid scene switching between different competitions and entertainment activities.

Through the intuitive display panel of Interact, stadium managers can more conveniently monitor the operating status of lighting systems in multiple different areas such as the field, facade, and spectator stands. Compared to traditional light sources, Philips LED luminaires can save up to 50% energy. The longer lifespan design reduces frequent replacement work. Instant-on luminaires avoid the start-up time of up to 15 minutes required by traditional light sources, reducing the impact of sudden power outages on matches and broadcasts.
