Sustainable lighting does not mean a lifeless, minimalist abstract environment. A couple in Bogotá, Colombia, created a new home environment that combines sustainable lighting with a warm and welcoming atmosphere using Megaman® energy-saving lamps and LED spotlights.

Sustainable lighting complements a warm ambiance

A couple who purchased a new home in Bogotá decided to redesign their interior lighting scheme and sought help from renowned interior designer Ricardo Fonseca of Mobil. They expressed to Fondesa their desire to create a bright and airy environment, adopting sustainable lighting designs as much as possible. The home covers 200 square meters with an open-plan layout. After careful assessment, Fonseca decided to use various lighting technologies, not only to maximize the home's energy saving benefits but also to create a warm and friendly living environment. He stated: "In addition to balancing artificial and natural lighting effects indoors, we must create spaces that are both luxurious and practical, helping homeowners achieve an environmentally friendly, sustainable, simple and efficient lighting solution, and using bright energy-saving lighting in every room."

To this end, Fonseca adopted Megaman®'s latest energy saving lamps and LED lighting technology to fully realize a luxurious yet highly efficient energy saving lighting effect. Indeed, the final result was excellent. Various Megaman® energy saving lamps and LED light bulbs were used throughout the apartment, replacing more than 80 quartz and tungsten filament lamps. This simple action saves 2,797W of energy consumption per month for the apartment, cutting electricity bills in half.

Outstanding Lighting from Top to Bottom

Foncesca replaced the original 35W recessed floor lights in the corridor with Megaman® 7W GU10 energy saving lamps. After replacing the light bulbs, not only did the energy saving benefits increase significantly, but it also created a soft lighting effect, highlighting the texture of the corridor walls and enhancing the visual recognition of the passageway. The entire house selected a warm yellow color rendering lighting design. The table lamps in the house uniformly use ultra-compact Megaman® 5W warm color temperature (2700K) pepper-shaped energy saving lamps, replacing the original higher-energy-consuming 40W filament lamps. The 50W halogen downlights in the living room, bedroom, and study were replaced with Megaman® 11W GU10 (2700K) energy saving lamps. The kitchen uses Megaman® 11W AR111 daylight (6500K) directional energy saving lamps to meet higher luminance requirements.

Excellent LED Color Rendering Performance

The dressing room uses Megaman® LED PAR 16 7W light bulbs with outstanding color rendering performance (Ra85, 2800K). All light bulbs are equipped with light sensors to fully realize energy saving benefits. Megaman® LED PAR16 reflector lamps adopt a unique geometric axial lamp design combined with efficient Thermal Conductive Highway™ heat conduction technology, featuring excellent heat dissipation performance, lighting effect, and lumen maintenance rate. Not only is the appearance outstanding, but the average life reaches up to 25,000 hours.

After use, it creates a gorgeous, practical, and energy-saving lighting effect. Fondesca summarizes: "Our design is easy to replicate, combining sustainability with energy efficiency, and offers excellent color rendering. We used warm color temperature to create an energy-saving, aesthetically pleasing, and durable lighting environment."
