Groninger Museum Lighting

The Groninger Museum is located in Groningen, Netherlands. Established over 100 years ago, it is renowned for its innovative design concepts. The museum features a striking exterior and houses the finest modern art collection in the Netherlands.

The museum engaged top designers Maarten Baas, Studio Job, and Jaime Hayon for spatial design, and commissioned Ralph van den Berg, a lighting engineering expert from Deerns, to develop the lighting upgrade plan for the museum's main corridors and exhibition areas. Meanwhile, the Mendini Restaurant, Job Lounge, and Information Center were respectively designed by Maarten Baas, Studio Job, and Jaime Hayon.

The Deerns design team used 20 Megaman® 8W LED PAR16 reflector lamps to measure the adjustable beam performance, luminance, and installation depth of the light bulbs. After successful testing, a total of 550 Megaman® 8W GU10 2800K dimmable LED PAR16 reflector lamps were installed in the oval hall, entrance area, and Mendini Restaurant within the Groninger Museum.

In addition, the Deerns design team used various T5 linear lamps in the exhibition space for wall-washing effects. The Starck showroom features a circular track system to ensure flexible control of spotlights. The Job Lounge, designed by Jaime Hayon, incorporates Venini Murano artistic chandeliers and wall washers, along with Megaman® dimmable Liliput series energy-saving lamps to create a strong focal effect.

The Megaman® 8W dimmable LED PAR16 reflector lamp has a color rendering index (CRI) of up to Ra80, extremely low UV emission, an average life of 25,000 hours, and maintains up to 90% of its luminous flux and light color, creating perfect lighting effects for the main corridor and restaurant of the Groningen Museum. In addition, the average life and energy efficiency of Megaman® energy-saving lamps far exceed those of quartz lamps, helping the museum significantly reduce energy consumption.
