Signify LED architectural lighting system illuminates the Imperial City of Hue, a famous landmark in Vietnam

Global lighting leader Signify (Euronext Amsterdam code: LIGHT) recently announced that it has used its Philips LED architectural lighting system to create stunning lighting visual effects for the Imperial City of Hue, Vietnam’s most renowned historical and cultural building.

Revitalizing Historical Splendor

For nearly a century and a half, the ancient walls surrounding the Imperial City of Hue have shouldered the heavy responsibility of protecting the citizens within.

The Hue Imperial Citadel was once accessible only to members of the Vietnamese royal family, but today, the latest lighting technology has injected new vitality into it. Thanks to the lighting effects presented by the new lighting system, Signify has not only properly preserved and recreated the glory and historical value of the Hue Imperial Citadel, but also made it another local tourist landmark, attracting a large number of tourists and local residents to come and admire it.

Vitality Passion Dynamism

Multiple color combinations of light pink, deep purple, and green are projected onto the walls of the Hue Imperial Citadel and the striking flag tower, allowing the vibrant lighting effects to be viewed from the Perfume River basin miles away.

The newly installed lighting system can present stunning lighting effects, including 'firing' cannons set on the city walls. In addition, compared to traditional lighting solutions, the new lighting system will save up to 75% energy.

Project Summary

About the project: The project was completed in March 2018, through a collaboration between Signify and the general contractor Vietravel; sponsored by the Chairman of the Hue People's Committee.

Technical support: 270 sets of Philips Color Kinetics Vaya linear lights and 155 sets of Philips Color Kinetics Vaya flood lamps controlled by LSM gen 50 1000.

Signify has illuminated several Vietnamese landmarks, including the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang, the Bai Chay Bridge in Ha Long, and the Hang Dau Bridge and Nhat Tan Bridge in Hanoi.

On May 16, 2018, Philips Lighting NV officially changed its name to Signify NV, continuing to use Philips as a product brand. The registration information change for its subsidiary, Philips Lighting (China) Investment Co., Ltd., is expected to be completed in early 2019.
