Lotus in Full Bloom: Yajiang Lights Up the Main Stadium of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center
Admire the design by day, enjoy the lighting by night. Today, residents' demands for their living environment are constantly rising; architectural illumination has become a top priority in urban municipal construction, and it has also become a hard criterion for measuring whether a city is livable.
Lighting design is an indispensable element in the vibrant life of a bustling metropolis; color illuminates building facades, creating dynamic light effects. Recently, one of China's largest sports venues, the "Lotus," which rivals Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium, has been lit up! The main stadium of the Olympic Sports Center is shaped like a lotus, with a dynamic and elegant form. Twenty-eight large petals and twenty-seven small petals, clad in silver aluminum-magnesium-manganese panels and transparent sunshine panels, completely envelop the arena that can accommodate tens of thousands of spectators, resembling a giant lotus about to bloom, becoming a prominent landmark on the south bank of the Qiantang River.
After the "Lotus Bowl" was illuminated, the entire Olympic Sports Center appeared exceptionally striking. People passing over the Qiantang River Third Bridge were amazed by the brilliant colors emanating from the blooming "Lotus," with red, yellow, pink, blue, green, and other hues alternating and transforming in a breathtaking display.

The Beauty of the Lotus Stuns on Debut
We marvel at the elegance of the Olympic Sports Center Main Stadium, which exudes refined taste, understated warmth, and profound quality. With over 10 years of professional LED R&D and manufacturing experience, Sanan Optoelectronics participated in the facade lighting of the "Lotus," supplying more than 700 high-power LED floodlights for the project. Within a limited one-month installation and commissioning period, they overcame challenges such as long distances between light poles, interference with luminaire control signals, and synchronized setting of complex color-changing programs. They successfully completed the commissioning task, ensuring the trial lighting of the "Lotus" before the New Year.
"Currently, it is only temporarily lit, mainly to let everyone enjoy the festive atmosphere during the Spring Festival; the entire lighting project is not yet complete." Said Chief Engineer Wu, who is responsible for installation at the Olympic Sports Center Binjiang Command Headquarters. Currently, 42 light poles, each 10 meters high, have been installed, with 512 lights mounted on them. Originally, 205 additional lights were to be placed on the base of the Lotus, but since the civil construction of the building is not yet finished, they are currently placed there temporarily. Further debugging and refinement will continue.

See the Light, Not the Luminaire: Energy Saving for a Green Olympic Sports Center
The Olympic Sports Center Main Stadium follows the design concept of "see the light, not the luminaire," perfectly integrating lighting design with architectural design. During the day, no trace of luminaires can be seen on the building's surface, and even at close range at night when the lights are on, it is difficult to find the light sources.
It is understood that there are no luminaires on the main stadium building of the Olympic Sports Center. The light poles are installed dozens of meters away on the periphery, and the lighting is projected onto the building. This design makes future maintenance much more convenient. The control boxes of the luminaires also employ shape and color camouflage, blending seamlessly with the building even within the visible range.

In addition, once the main stadium of the Olympic Sports Center is fully lit, it will operate in three modes: event mode, festival mode, and energy saving mode. This maximizes the utility of the stadium and energy saving effects, creating different light color environments to achieve the visual effect of "solemnity in daily use, brilliance during festivals".
Based on the concepts of green, environmental protection, and energy saving, Yajiang Optoelectronics adopted "new light sources, new technologies, and new designs" in the project. It reasonably distributes illuminance to reduce energy consumption; adopts the most reasonable lighting layout and light distribution design to avoid light waste and ensure the luminaires achieve the best luminous efficacy; and implements reasonable lighting control methods based on crowd flow and time... All these designs are dedicated to building a green Olympic Expo, reflecting the concept of sustainable human development.
