Appreciation of the Lighting Design for Tallinn Sports Hall in Estonia

This sports complex is located in Lasnamäe, a former Soviet residential district, and is one of the first buildings completed as part of the area's revitalization plan.

The arrangement of the windows at Tallinn Sports Hall was inspired by ice crystals. However, after sunset, the lighting makes these windows appear like those of different apartment buildings. The varied arrangement of openings makes the building look less like a single volume and more like part of the surrounding urban space, a fragmented whole composed of points of light.
